2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 price and specs: $71,900 fixed price for electric SUV

Orders for Hyundai’s first dedicated electric car open next week, with 400 well-specified cars to make up the initial batch – all sold direct to customers, without dealers in the mix.

The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric SUV will go on sale in Australia later this month, priced from $71,900 before on-road costs – with the first batch of cars to be sold through a fixed-price, online sales model.

The first batch of cars to reach Australian shores will be a run of 400 well-equipped, launch edition variants, simply badged ‘Ioniq 5’ – which will be sold exclusively through Hyundai Australia’s website at fixed prices, rather than through dealers, to ensure “a fair allocation of Ioniq 5 [vehicles]” despite “unprecedented high demand” and “limited initial supply”.
