Synthetic fuel to save Porsche 911 – not electrification

Don’t expect a plug-in hybrid version of Porsche’s most famous model any time soon

Porsche is investing heavily in synthetic petrol and says e-fuel – not electrification – is the key to extending the life of combustion-powered sports cars like the Porsche 911 in the face of tightening emissions regulations.

Speaking to Australian media following last week’s reveal of the new Porsche 911 GT3, Porsche’s long-time GT model line director Andreas Preuninger said models like the GT3 would be the last to electrify and that the 911 will always be available with a combustion engine.
