Summary of Advantages
Huawei P20 Lite:
* Higher display pixel density
* Higher rear and front camera resolution
* Thinner and lighter
ASUS ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL):
* Larger screen size
* Higher microSD card capacity support
* Rear camera OIS
* Updated Bluetooth
* Bigger battery w/ fast charging
Looking at the advantages above, the Huawei P20 Lite wins in terms of pixel density which is good if you want the sharpest display possible. But if you want the biggest screen, the ZenFone 5 is your best bet with just a 30ppi difference, which is not bad.
When it comes to cameras, both have dual-rear setups. The P20 Lite has the higher rear camera resolution but we all know that resolution alone is not enough. The ZenFone 5 uses a Sony IMX363 dual-pixel sensor with OIS so we can expect good quality photos. Add to that the secondary 120-degree wide-angle lens which is handy for certain scenarios. For selfies, the P20 Lite has the advantage of having a higher camera resolution.
In terms of other features, the ZenFone 5 is more packed by having an updated Bluetooth, NFC, support for 2TB microSD cards, and a larger battery with fast charging.
Performance-wise, both sport mid-range chipsets. The P20 Lite uses a Kirin 659 which is the same chip used for the Nova 2i, so we can expect the same level of performance. The ZenFone 5, on the other hand, uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, which also powers the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. We’ll try to compare benchmark results once we have both phones on hand.
The Huawei P20 Lite is expected to launch on April 28, while the ASUS ZenFone 5 on April 14. Pricing is yet to be announced for both phones, but our guess for the P20 Lite is under Php20K/$385.
