When Apple’s late co-founder Steve Jobs was diagnosed with cancer, his son Reed Jobs made full use of Stanford university’s oncology labs to study gene sequencing for pancreatic cancers. Jobs, as any father would be, was insanely proud of Reed, and commented to his biographer Walter Isaacson, “[O]ne of the very few silver linings about me getting sick is that Reed’s gotten to spend a lot of time studying with some very good doctors.
