The new Intel Core i9-8950HK suitable for high-end gaming laptops and working stations was just announced and we can’t wait to see how it stands out compared to the competition. Therefore, we chose for it a worthy rival – the AMD Ryzen 7 1700, so today’s article is dedicated to a brief comparison between the two processors.

Specs overview

The latest addition to the 8th generation Intel Core i9 mobile processors – the Intel Core i9-8950HK is based on the Coffee Lake-H architecture featuring a total of 6 cores and 12 threads.

Manufactured through a 14 nm process, it supports the HyperThreading technology thanks to which the processor is able to execute 12 sets of instructions at the same time. As for speeds, the new CPU reaches base frequencies of up to 2.9 GHz and a 4.8 GHz turbo speed. The specs sheet is complemented by 2 MB L3, dual-channel DDR4-2666 RAM, and 45 W TDP.
