It is time to compare one of the latest U-series processors from AMD – the Ryzen 5 3500U to its predecessor – the Ryzen 5 2500U. Are they more different from what their names suggest and how they perform against one another?
Specs overview
The older processor of the bunch – the Ryzen 5 2500U is built on a 14nm Raven Ridge architecture, which utilizes between 15-25 W of power (the nominal TDP is 15W). On the contrary, the Ryzen 5 3500U is built on the newer 12nm Zen+ technology and while it is rated at the same 15W it provides the laptop manufacturers to configure it up to 35W.
