AMG was founded in 1967 and worked alongside Mercedes-Benz for years developing racing engines and other performance upgrades. The company signed an agreement to develop vehicles for Mercedes-Benz in the early ’90s. In 1999, Mercedes-Benz took a controlling interest in AMG, becoming its sole owner in 2005.
