For better or for worse, there are a few audio companies that rise out from audio forums and become a part of our culture. Obviously, a company like Beats is one that comes to mind. But for a long time when you thought of active noise cancellation, Bose is what came to mind. To the vast majority of people, it probably still does. But it might take some time before the average person starts thinking of the Sony WH-1000X M3 before they think of “those Bose headphones”.
