Today, we shall compare two consecutive laptop series from the same Dell Latitude family – Dell Latitude 15 5590 vs Dell Latitude 15 5580 and see whether there are some major differences.

In terms of hardware options, the 5590 configurations pack 7th or 8th generation ULV Intel Core processors, while its predecessor comes with 7th or 6th generation processors (either ULV or H-series). When it comes to the graphics part, the former comes with the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 solution or NVIDIA’s GeForce MX130 chip as opposed to the integrated Intel options or NVIDIA 930MX/940MX in the latter. There is no difference as far as the memory capacity is concerned – you can configure both machines with up to 32 GB of RAM.

Moving on, the 15.6-inch configurations of the two models offer HD (1366 x 768), as well as Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. However, the 5590 has an IPS option, while its predecessor can be found only with a TN panel. And if you are wondering which is the more compact device, the difference in the numbers is minor, however, the Dell Latitude 15 5590 is again the winner. With a starting weight of 1.88 kg (4.1 lbs) and thickness of 23.25 – 20.6 mm (whether you choose a touch or non-touch option), it is slightly more portable than its rival.
