2021 Genesis G80 diesel axed; GV70 and GV80 safe

Diesel power is gone from the Korean brand’s large sedan range, though its SUV model will stick with the fuel type for now.

The diesel variant of the 2021 Genesis G80 has been axed globally just months after its Australian launch, as the Korean luxury brand looks to its electric future.

First confirmed in South Korea – where diesel production wrapped up in late October – a Genesis Motors Australia spokesperson confirmed the 2.2D option has been dropped from the local G80 line-up, leaving the 2.5T RWD and 3.5T AWD petrol variants to fight for their slices of the sales pie.
