2022 Polestar 2 price matches Tesla Model 3, due in Australia early next year

Volvo’s electric-car offshoot Polestar will arrive in Australia with non-negotiable fixed prices and online sales. But advanced safety technology will come at an extra cost.

Generous tax rebates for electric vehicles appear to have created their first unintended consequence – and come at the cost of advanced safety technology on the upcoming 2022 Polestar 2.

The electric-car offshoot of Volvo – the Chinese-owned Polestar brand – has made the latest safety tech an extra-cost option, enabling the price of standard models to fall under the threshold for $3000 tax rebates offered by NSW and Victorian Governments.
