If privacy concerns are preventing you from using a smart security camera to monitor your home, check out the Kangaroo Privacy Camera ($79). This reasonably priced indoor camera uses exclusive lens-blocking technology (in the form of an opaque lens shield) to prevent hackers or anyone else from peeking and listening in on what’s happening in your home. It’s easy to install and offers motion and sound detection, 1080p video, and 24 hours of free cloud storage, but its night vision is poorly lit and you have to subscribe to a monthly service in order to use features such as two-way talk and Alexa and Google voice commands. You’ll pay a bit more for our Editors’ Choice, the $129 SimCam 1S, but these features, and many more, are included in the price and it offers superior nighttime video.
