Subaru’s Outback and Forester models both started life as rugged, no-nonsense station wagons, but they’ve come a long way since. The former remains a wagon, though it’s more SUV-like than ever before, while the latter has morphed into a family-friendly crossover. They overlap in many areas, including pricing, and they share several parts but they’re completely different cars each aimed at a specific set of buyers.
