First iOS app dev center opens in Europe

Apple has announced that it has opened its very first iOS app development center in Europe. The goal of the center is to help students learn how to create apps for the Apple ecosystem of devices. The iOS App Development Center will be located at a partner institution in Naples, Italy.

Apple says that the center will support teachers and offer a specialized curriculum preparing thousands of future developers to be part of Apple’s developer community. Apple also plans to work with partners in Italy to develop training to go along with the curriculum and to create more opportunities for students.

This is the first such program in Europe, but Apple plans to roll this program out to other countries in the future. Apple says that it has created an ecosystem in Europe that supports more than 1.4 million jobs along with 1.2 million jobs attributable to the app creators.

In Italy alone, more than 75,000 jobs are attributable to the App Store. Apple has a history of working with European firms Including a Milan-based firm called Laboratorio Elettrofisico that makes magnetization equipment and Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems that create components that power sensor and audio tech in iOS devices.
