The Lumia 735 is now officially available from Verizon Wireless with an incredibly low price tag. Walk into a Verizon store and you’ll find the Lumia 735 for just $8 a month on Verizon Edge, or for $29.99 with a new two-year contract. The phone first launched online exclusively last month.
Given that Windows 10 is just around the corner, and likely with it some new flagship hardware, this probably isn’t a device a smartphone enthusiast should buy with a two-year contract. Parents who need quick access to email and text messaging are probably better served. Or, if you want, you can buy it off contract direct from Microsoft for $199 and use it as a travel phone or backup smartphone. The price is so low that, on contract, the colorful wireless charging cases cost almost as much as the phone at $24.99. Red, cyan, white, green and orange colors are available.
The specs? Entry-level. You’ll find a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, a 2,220mAh battery, 16GB of expandable storage and a 4.7-inch HD OLED display. If you buy the phone before July 31, Microsoft will toss in a year of 1TB OneDrive storage. Microsoft says the Lumia 735 will get the Windows 10 update, too.
