The Chinese smartphone maker Huawei expanded its Honor range of smartphones in India by launching the Honor 5X and the Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus. The Honor Holly 2 Plus is the successor to Huawei’s earlier Honor Holly, which had more shortcomings than strengths.
This time, Huawei has made some important changes to the device and they have come with an improved Honor Holly 2 Plus, which will go on sale starting February 15th at a price tag of Rs. 8,499. But before that let us check the Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus Review to find out if the Holly 2 Plus smartphone is capable to take on the other smartphones in the budget category.
Honor Holly 2 Plus Full Phone Specification Review
BUILD AND DESIGN Review: The Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus smartphone does not stand out in terms of design and looks, the smartphone features a plastic built, which has a metal finish frame on the sides. The smartphone follows the basic design language, with the 5-inch display on the front, the power button and volume rocker keys on the sides and the camera unit with the LED flash on the back of the smartphone. The 3.5mm headphone jack is placed on the top of the smartphone and the bottom features a charging point and speaker grilles.
Honor Holly 2 Plus Display and Camera Review:
DISPLAY Review: The Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus display sports a 5-inch HD IPS LCD display on the front that has a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels translating into pixel density of 293ppi. The display on the Honor Holly 2 Plus does not have a Gorilla Glass or the Dragontrail Glass protection, but it is claimed to feature a scratch resistant glass panel with an oleophobic coating on top. The screen of the Holly 2 Plus smartphone offers a decent performance but it cannot be compared to the vibrant and crisp AMOLED displays.
CAMERA Review: Moving on to the Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus Camera Review, the Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus smartphone has a 13MP camera sensor on the rear of the smartphone that has F2.0 aperture and a fast autofocus. The front sensor is a 5MP one with F2.2 aperture. The rear camera clicked decent, actually impressive, the well-lit conditions but the pictures suffered under low-lit conditions. If you have high expectations from the selfie camera then you are in for disappointment as the front camera fails to impress.
Processor, UI, Battery, Storage Review
PROCESSOR and UI Review: Under the hood, the Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus smartphone houses a quad core MediaTek MT6735 chipset clocked at 1.3GHz that powers the device. The silicon is coupled with 2GB of RAM space and a Mali T720 GPU for graphic purposes. The processor though outdated, promises to offer a decent user experience and it will not disappoint you unless you put your smartphone through some high-level tasks. The smartphone packs 16GB of internal storage and out of which 11GB is user accessible. The device also has a microSD card slot that can be used to expand the storage size.
The Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus smartphone comes running the Android v5.1 Lollipop under Huawei’s custom made EMUI 3.1 skin. It is worth noting that that Huawei custom UI does not come with much bloatware and offered a smooth user experience.
BATTERY Review: The battery is among the strongest features of the Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus, it has a 4000mAh battery unit enclosed within it plastic body. The battery can also be used to charge other smartphones thanks to the reverse charging feature.
STORAGE Review: As we have already mentioned, the Honor Holly 2 Plus smartphone comes with 16GB of internal storage out of which around 11GB of storage is user accessible. The storage space can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
Pros and Cons with Review and Specs:
- Decent Display
- 4000mAh battery
- Reverse Charging
- CDMA network access
- Average Build
- Disappointing Selfie Camera
Honor Holly 2 Plus Hands On Review (In Detail): My Verdict
Among the large number of low priced budget smartphones, the battery is one factor that most of the smartphone makers have failed to address successfully. The Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus seems to address just that with its 4000mAh battery. Though the smartphone fails to impress in other departments but it can make for a great choice for the ones who want a large battery life from their smartphones.
