- Windows 10 Home for a full PC experience
- Easy to use and carry
- Affordable price
- Limited Performance
- Low storage capacity
The Pipo X1S is a new PC stick that was released not so long ago. For those of you who don’t know what a PC stick is, well, they’re basically PCs with a plug and play format, which means that the only thing you need to do in order to get this device working is plugging it to a display or TV, and turning on the switch. The Pipo X1S represents a good choice for those who don’t want to spend money on a notebook or laptop and require PC features in a portable device.
The Pipo X1S offers a basic performance for an affordable low price; although the X1S is an unconventional type of PC, it’s still a PC, for such reason, we shall evaluate it as one. Firstly, this PC stick features an Intel Cherry Trail Z8300 Quad Core CPU alongside an Intel HD graphics GPU. When it comes to memory, we have 2 GB of DDR3 Ram and 32 GB of Rom available for storage. The system is powered by Windows 10 Home and provides full PC features.
The Pipo X1S comes with a USB 3.0 port and a Micro USB 2.0 port that allows you to plug a keyboard and mouse. It supports Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi like a regular PC. However, it has the size of a USB flash drive and features an HDMI male connector so that you can plug it to an HD display and start enjoying the experience right away.
Design & body description
The Pipo X1S resembles a USB flash drive when it comes to size and shape, but instead of a USB connector we have an HDMI male, which is plugged to a compatible display (you can also use a compatible adapter). If you were holding this PC stick vertically you would find these items on the following order. On the right side, a micro-SD slot alongside a micro-USB 2.0 can be found. On the left side, you can find a power button, a DC-5V power port, and a USB 3.0 port.
This device is really small and light, only 4.49 x 1.34 x 0.67 inches of size and a weight of barely 0.068 Kg. You could mistake it for a USB flash drive and no one could blame you for that.
Another aspect that needs to be addressed it’s that it features several cooling holes across the outer cover to assist the built-in fan and preventing overheat issues.
Performance CPU & GPU
The Pipo X1S features an Intel Atom x5-Z8300 Quad-Core CPU with 1.84 GHz of frequency. The CPU is part of the Cherry Trail platform and can be found widely on mobile devices. The performance that this CPU can provide is decent, suitable for office work and multimedia usage, but nothing too demanding. It can perform light multitasking thanks to its four cores, and programs like the Microsoft office package, for example, will perform smoothly. Do not intend to use this little machine for heavy tasks since it’s a basic device meant to perform light operations such as web browsing and video or music playback.
The GPU embedded is an Intel HD graphics (Cherry Trail) and has clock speed up to 500 MHz, it can handle decently some older and less demanding Windows games in low settings, nothing hardcore or excessive. Keep in mind that we are talking about a low-end PC if we were going to tag this PC stick. The best usage you could give to the GPU without overwhelming it is playing videos or movies. It’s also worth mentioning that the maximum resolution supported by the device is 1080P.
In conclusion, we have a limited performance for a low price. However, the Pipo X1S can still be used for multimedia purposes and office work decently.
The Pipo X1S has 2 GB of DDR3 memory Ram, which is barely enough for the OS and programs to perform correctly, alongside the Quad-Core CPU, we have basic multi-tasking capacities. For running you everyday apps or programs this amount of Ram is decent, but don’t try to overwhelm it intentionally since this can be achieved easily.
When it comes to storage, this PC stick has 32 GB of eMMC ROM memory, but a portion is occupied by the OS, which left us an amount of 28 GB left. However, we can add an extra 64 GB via micro-SD card.
This device runs on Windows 10 Home of 32-bits, which is the latest installment on the Microsoft Windows family and brings back the Start button that Windows 8 took away from us. With that said, you already know the possibilities of the Pipo X1S PC stick when it comes to software, programs or apps.
The performance of the OS on this device is decent, generally the experience is smooth, although, sometimes we have witnessed lag spikes or delay performing certain actions, but only in counted occasions and you should not worry about this being a constant.
We can find here the usual wireless connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. You would surely find yourself using both options since there isn’t an RJ-45 port and there are only two USB ports (3.0 and micro-USB 2.0). The Bluetooth connectivity comes handy if you need to use a keyboard or mouse but you are already using the USB ports or if you want to use other wireless devices.

The Pipo XS1 offers a full PC experience with a modest performance equivalent to a low-end PC within the least. Although you can perform regular PC task on this device, you would be limited by its basic specs. However, what truly shines about it is the portable format since it allows you to carry this PC stick around very easily, take it inside your bag, a suitcase, even your pockets will do the job. The other selling point is its price, you would be paying less than what you would usually spend on a notebook PC, and similar to the price of a low-end tablet, but you would be receiving full PC features instead. Therefore, it can suit your needs for a mobile workstation or multimedia center very easily.
Besides the previously discussed factors, there is nothing else that can be said about it since the Pipo XS1 doesn’t have any other special that it’s worth mentioning, but we consider that it’s still a solid choice for non-demanding users who require portability.
