Cherry Mobile Flare S7 Plus vs Xiaomi Mi A2 specs comparison

Recently, the upcoming prices of Cherry Mobile’s newest Flare S7 series surfaced with the Flare S7 Plus having the most “expensive” tag in the family. Let’s take a look at how it fares against the Xiaomi Mi A2, a smartphone with almost the same price. Who will win in this specs comparison? Let’s find out below.

The Cherry Mobile Flare S7 Plus is what I would call a big upgrade from its predecessors. It sports a 6.18-inch 18.5:9 display with 2246 x 1080 resolution, Helio P60 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, 16MP + 5MP dual rear cameras, 16MP + IR front camera, and 3,050mAh battery with fast charging and wireless charging capabilities.

2018 Mazda6 vs 2019 Ford Fusion vs 2019 Subaru Legacy: Midsize Sedan Showdown

This is going to be an interesting battle. The 2018 Mazda6 is fresh from a major facelift for the current model year. I personally love this car. I think it’s the best-looking midsize sedan in the market today, apart from the fact it is gifted with an athletic demeanor. However, I also like the 2019 Ford Fusion. This is not because it still resembles an Aston Martin at first glance, but it remains a true driver’s car while still remaining civilized for the daily drive.

2018 Mazda6 vs 2019 Ford Fusion vs 2019 Subaru Legacy: Midsize Sedan Showdown

On the other hand, I always admired the performance-oriented attitude of the Subaru Legacy. The 2019 Legacy is still a great car to drive and is the only one in this test equipped with standard all-wheel drive. The Ford Fusion can be optioned with a similar drivetrain, but the Mazda6 only comes in front-wheel drive.

3rd Gen Chromecast sold early, spoils Google surprise

Google’s big October Pixel 3 event may not be for another week, but the 3rd Gen Chromecast we’re expecting to see debut there has already shown up in the wild. The new version of Google’s streaming TV adapter isn’t meant to make its official appearance until October 9th, but it seems more than one retailer has pulled the trigger early.

3rd Gen Chromecast sold early, spoils Google surprise

By all intents, Google’s event is shaping up to be a big one. It has certainly seen more than its fair share of leaks beforehand, likely much to the chagrin of the search giant and its PR team. First we saw the Pixel 3 XL, complete with its controversial notched display. Then, leaks exposed a Google Home Hub.

Surface Pro and Surface Laptop update leaks have some terrible news

Microsoft’s big event may make relatively small changes this week in New York City, with its Surface refresh tipped to play it safe – or even disappointing – as it heads into holiday sales season. The software giant has summoned the media to NYC on Tuesday, October 2nd to reveal the latest fruits of its Surface computing team. However, some early leaks have spoiled the surprise a little.

We’d already had a pretty solid idea of what to expect. On the one hand, the Surface Pro is on track to get a revamp, with the 2017 version of the 2-in-1 replaced with a 2018 update. We’re also likely to see a new Surface Pro for 2018. The Surface Book 2, meanwhile, is also a year old.

Living with the new Wear OS: How I fell back in love with Google’s smartwatches

A smarter assistant has won me over

For Google’s smartwatch users, life is feast or famine. We spent so long waiting on Google to do… something… anything to re-energize its smartwatch platform while Apple and Samsung powered ahead (and Fitbit joined the party).

But after the rollout of Android Wear 2.0 in early 2017, very little happened. The more rivals like Apple and Samsung improved, the more Google stayed the same (every Apple Watch has shipped with a new processor and software update).

To the point you’d have been forgiven for wondering if Google even cared about smartwatches anymore or, like so many other Mountain View projects, they’d been put out to pasture.

Fujifilm GFX 50R vs GFX 50S – The 10 Main Differences

The Fujifilm GFX system was announced two years ago, along with the GFX 50S mirrorless medium format camera and a roadmap of six GF lenses that has since been expanded to ten.

We had the chance to review and compare the 50S to the Sony A7r III and we were impressed by the quality of the sensor and lenses. The body is large for obvious reasons but doesn’t detract from the user-friendly interface that has characterised Fujifilm cameras since the original X100.

Fujifilm’s choice to skip the 35mm format and go medium format was an interesting move, and something quite unexpected as well. The only drawback of the GFX series is that it is much more expensive than the X-Series which has been Fujifilm’s primary focus for the past six years.

Bluesound Pulse Soundbar and Pulse Subwoofer review: Reference sound and outstanding streaming features

This soundbar/subwoofer combo is for audiophiles and cineastes who can afford to indulge their craving for refined, dynamic sound.

Canadian manufacturer Bluesound makes some big audiophile claims for its Pulse Soundbar and Pulse Sub. Based on my experience with these speakers, those claims are valid. With all due respect to the competition, the build quality for both speakers is head and shoulders above average. Think high-performance luxury car versus run-of-the-mill econobox.

The Pulse Soundbar is among the beefiest soundbars I’ve reviewed. The 42.25 x 5.5 x 2.75-inch speaker weighs in at a hefty 15 pounds. Furthermore, there’s a noticeably dense feel to the soundbar when you hold it, thanks to an aluminum enclosure and a metal grille that’s in stark contrast to the plastic shells gracing much of the competition. The speaker is available in black (as my review unit was) or white, but the white finish will cost you another C-note.

Lenovo ThinkPad L480 review: This basic business notebook falls a little short

You get the trademark ThinkPad traits, but not much else.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad L480 is the entry-level member of the Thinkpad club of business notebooks, but its excellent keyboard can’t redeem a mediocre display and performance.

Pros
  • Excellent ThinkPad keyboard
  • A wide variety of port options
  • Durable construction
Cons
  • Review model lacked a touchscreen
  • Audio was muddier than it should be
  • Battery life is on the low end

Lenovo ThinkPad L480

The Lenovo ThinkPad L480 grants you basic membership in the ThinkPad club. Even if you can’t afford the premium Lenovo charges for its slimmer, more powerful models like the ThinkPad X1 Carbon (6th Gen), you’re at least getting a stellar keyboard and sturdy construction.

2019 Honda Monkey Review: Hey! Hey! It’s The Monkey! (14 Fast Facts)

Spearheading Honda’s efforts to build new audiences for its motorcycles is its 125cc triumvirate of the Grom, Super Cub C125, and Monkey.

For our first ride on the Monkey, Honda presented the little guy in the sleepy town of Avalon on Catalina Island off the Southern California coast.

We’ll do some more extensive testing of the 2019 Honda Monkey when we get it on the mainland, but we couldn’t wait to give your our first impression!

1. The Honda Mini Trail motorcycle is back—aimed squarely at licensed motorcyclists this time, but bringing out the kid in all of us. The original Honda Mini Trail 50 family of the 1960s and ’70s was targeted at kids and looked more like toy dirt bikes, even though many versions were street-legal. Everything is in perfect proportion on the new 125cc 2019 Honda Monkey, so an average sized adult can comfortably ride it.

NVIDIA RTX 2080 Deep Dive: Redefining The Raw Power of Graphics Cards

It is the biggest upgrade in years

Last month, NVIDIA officially announced the successor to its GTX 10 series with the RTX 20 series. Headlined by the RTX 2080, NVIDIA’s newest consumer GPUs are equipped with the latest Turing Architecture—first seen with the Quadro RTX series.

The RTX 20 series emphasize on ray tracing—a rendering technique where an image is generated by tracing the path of light as pixels and later simulates it with virtual objects. While we’ve seen a few demos here and there, the tech inside the RTX 20 series go beyond ray tracing.

All the VR news from Oculus Connect 2018 : Oculus gave us some Quest love and a bunch more VR gaming news

So Oculus Connect, its annual developer conference, is happening this week in San Jose but we already know pretty much all of the main VR headset and gaming news for this year’s edition. And our US contributing editor Husain Sumra is on the Oculus Connect 5 showfloor, doing demos with all the new kit and games.

The big picture for Oculus is that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he wants to get one billion people into virtual reality but that might take a while to achieve.

Here’s all the news that Rift and Go owners need to know (in order of how exciting we think it is) as well as the big hardware news of the show, its new standalone VR headset.

2018 Volkswagen Polo GTI v Renault Clio RS Sport Comparison

The Volkswagen Polo is only two years younger than the Golf, yet it took 19 years for Volkswagen to finally determine that its city car would be a good fit for the sporty GTI badge.

In between the first Golf GTI of 1976 and the original Polo GTI of 1995, the German brand believed its Passat family sedan and wedge-shaped Scirocco coupe were worthier recipients of the famous trio of capital letters (though there was a supercharged Polo G40 in 1991).

The ‘sixth generation’ Polo GTI released this year, then, is technically a fourth-generation model – and only the third to reach Australia since 2005. So, it’s a relative newbie, and certainly lacking the heritage of its bigger brother.

Vantrue OnDash N1 Pro dash cam review: A little gem of a basic dash cam

This compact dash cam (with the optional GPS) covers all the bases and takes up little space.

Okay, the Vantrue N1 Pro by its lonesome is only an $80 dash cam. A very nice dash cam. But as we recommend GPS for legal and travel log reasons, I’m going to talk about it as if the $22 optional GPS mount were part of the deal. If you’re smart, it will be. That brings us to $102.

Either way, this tiny unit is our new favorite low-cost dash cam. Great basics, compact installation, a real battery, and excellent video captures will do that for you.

Android Confidential: 3 reasons why you should buy a cheap Android phone this October

You can resist the lure of premium.

It’s gonna be one heck of a fall for Android fans. Over the next few weeks the Pixel 3, Huawei Mate 20, and LG V40 are all due to drop, and we may even get a peek at Samsung’s fabled folding phone. So I wouldn’t blame you if you were already bracing yourself for the blow your wallet is about to take.

But what if it didn’t have to be that way? What if you didn’t need to spend nine hundred or a thousand dollars to get the best phone for you? In the latest episode of Android Confidential, I make the case for buying a cheaper phone rather than one of the outrageously expensive ones that cost as much as many laptops:

Razer Nari Ultimate review: This haptics-enabled gaming headset lets you literally feel the groove

Incredibly comfortable and aided by cooling gel in the ear cups, the Razer Nari Ultimate is a haptics-enabled headset that doesn’t feel like a one-off gimmick. The only sticking point is the $200 price tag.

There’s one area where PC gamers get consistently overlooked: haptics. Haptic feedback (or rumble, in the vernacular) has been a mainstay of console gaming for almost two decades now, and for good reason. Smart usage can both increase immersion and provide invaluable feedback to players, e.g. letting you feel the moment digital tires lose traction on slick asphalt, or warning that an enemy’s shooting at you.

Volkswagen Amarok Core V6 to open under $50K

Back-to-basics German V6 4×4 pick-up will be a price shocker for Benz, Ford and Toyota

The entry price of the popular Volkswagen Amarok V6 ute range will drop below $50,000 (plus on-road costs) when the manual version of the new ‘hose-out’ Core model launches in the second quarter of 2019.

And not only will it be the only V6 dual-cab 4×4 ute in that price range and the only one with a manual gearbox, it will also boost its appeal among serious off-roaders by being the only Amarok V6 with low-range gearing.

The only V6 rival for the Volkswagen Amarok is the Mercedes-Benz X-Class V6, which arrives later than expected in January and is now on sale from $73,270 in auto-only guise with low-range gearing.

Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro leak has everything you need to know

In just over two weeks, Huawei will try to prove that it has the last laugh of the year. Some might already believe that, give how the Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro has been leaked to death by now. But if you need a refresher, Israeli site Girafa has gotten hold of practically all the details, including ones we are hearing for the first time.

It might sound like the base model, but the Huawei Mate 20 is almost like the “higher” mid-range version of Huawei’s late 2018 flagship. As Huawei itself already announced, these phones will be running in the latest Kirin 980. And that’s mostly where the similarities with the Mate 20 Pro end. Aside perhaps for the fast charging and wireless charging features.

The Mate 20 fill have a 6.53-inch flat Full HD+ 18.7:9 screen, only 4 GB of RAm and 128 GB of internal storage. The battery is rated at 4,000 mah only and the phone only has IP53 dust and waterproofing. And while it will inherit the P20 Pro’s triple cameras, it will supposedly have lower quality.

Panasonic S1R Hands-on Preview – Development Announcement

Well, well, well, look what we have here. Another fighter enters the fray of full-frame mirrorless cameras!

In the run-up to Photokina 2018, Micro Four Thirds powerhouse Panasonic announced the development of not one but two professional-level full-frame mirrorless cameras, the Lumix S1R and Lumix S1.

Image sensorA long-time partner in the Four Thirds system, and subsequently one of the co-developers of the mirrorless Micro Four Thirds system, Panasonic has been a leader in developing cameras around rather small sensors. Back in 2008, Panasonic debuted the world’s first digital single-lens mirrorless camera, the Lumix G1, and now ten years on, they are starting a new chapter — with a new sensor size.

Vizio P Series Review

What do you really need in a modern TV these days? Picture quality is, of course a given, with terms like “4K”, “HDR”, “FALD”, and “Quantum Dots” being thrown around in marketing spiels and materials. With increasingly connected homes, Internet connection for streaming is almost expected as well. Maybe even some smart home control, too. And beyond being just functional, these “smart” TVs are expected to look just as nice as any decoration in your living room. In all but one of those, Vizio’s 2018 P Series promises to check all those dots. And so we take it for a spin to see, no pun intended, if it can deliver.

Design

The days of boxy, purely utilitarian TVs are so long gone, that kind of television set now only appears in period drama or science fiction. These days, TVs, whether smart or otherwise, are designed to blend with your living room decor.

Phones in Octoberfest: what’s coming next month

The year’s major tech events are over but the smartphone show is far from done. In fact, it seems that many of the major OEMs actually skipped them, preferring to have their own stage. Amusingly, they all decided to do it next month, which means it will just be as busy as IFA a few weeks back. So to help you navigate through and schedule the next two to three weeks, here’s our guide to the smartphones that will be making their debut in October.

LG V40 ThinQ: October 3

LG actually already let the cat out of the bag. Somewhat. Just a few hours ago it “pre-announced” the LG V40 ThinQ. It confirmed the triple cameras, all arranged in a row in the middle of the smartphone’s back. There’s also a traditional fingerprint scanner at the bottom. LG also talked a lot about its soft and smooth and hopefully not slippery reinforced glass back and mentioned, almost in passing, the large 6.4-inch screen.

1MORE Quad-Driver In-Ear and Triple-Driver Over-Ear Headphones Review

1MORE might be an unfamiliar brand name for most of us as the company was founded just a few years ago in China. They are trying to expand globally and a notable investor is Xiaomi. And similar to Xiaomi, 1MORE is trying to release premium quality headphones at mid-range prices.

I have a chance to try two of their headphones released in the US, the triple-driver over-ear and quad-driver in-ear headphones.

1MORE Triple-Driver Over-Ear Headphones

The headphones come in a hard case along with the audio cable and a 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter. The cable is removable and it is connected to both of the earcups. I’m quite impressed with the design of the over-ear headphones. It has a solid build although some parts are made of plastic. The earcups look truly beautiful with aluminum alloy housings and when you look at the sides, you can see the bass reflectors underneath a clear plastic surface. Another advantage is that the earcups can be folded inwards for better storage and transportation.

10 Reasons to Upgrade to the iPhone SE in 2018

If you own an iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, or iPhone 5s this year might be the year to upgrade. There are a ton of options out there, but many iPhone 5s and iPhone 5 users should consider upgrading to the iPhone SE, Apple’s discontinued 4-inch flagship.

After the iPhone XS launch, Apple quietly discontinued the iPhone SE, a device it announced all the way back in March, 2016. The move comes without an immediate successor and no word on how much longer stores will stock the device.

Apple’s reportedly working on a successor for the iPhone SE, but iPhone SE 2 rumors have stalled and it looks like we’ll have to wait until next year, or longer, for another 4-inch iPhone.

The iPhone 5s and iPhone 5 look a lot like the iPhone SE, but don’t let that fool you. The iPhone SE is the superior phone with a much brighter future.

Take one of the most beloved 15-inch laptops, drop in a wickedly fast 8th gen CPU Core i7 and better graphics, and you have the XPS 15 9570.

You know who has an easy job today? Dell’s XPS 15 designer. That’s because the popular 15.6-inch laptop gets the upgrade it deserves with Intel’s 8th-gen 6-core Core i7 chip. Dell also tucked in a GPU upgrade to make what is ultimately the fastest XPS 15 we’ve seen yet.

Dell XPS 15 features and specs

The Dell XPS 15 comes in many flavors, but the specs of our 9570 review unit are as follows:
