Hands on: Asus ZenBook Flip S review

At Asus’s pre-Computex event, chairman Jonney Shih excitedly announced the Asus ZenBook  Flip S – which he declared was the thinnest convertible laptop in the world.

It doesn’t take much to get the eccentric Shih excited, but it appears his enthusiasm is well placed, as from what we’ve seen the Asus ZenBook Flip S is set to be an incredibly well-built, powerful and desirable device.

As a follow-up to the well-received Asus ZenBook Flip UX360, Asus appears to have improved on nearly every aspect, while, crucially, maintaining the ZenBook Flip family’s most compelling feature: a low price.

Asus ZenBook Flip S UX370 release date and price

At the launch event on May 29, it was revealed that the Asus ZenBook Flip S would go on sale with a price tag starting at $1099 (around £850, AU$1500). This elicited an excited response from the crowd, and it certainly seems like Asus has pitched this at a very compelling price.

2017 Chevrolet Malibu review

Things are getting harder for the humble family sedan. With gas prices staying cheap and a string of ever-more-enticing crossover SUVs hitting the market, you can understand why many families are choosing to go with something bigger and taller than the plain ‘ol four-door of the past.

Any sedan that wants to survive must be really good, and thankfully, the 2017 Malibu is exactly that. It has great looks, solid performance and an extra helping of family friendly special features that bring it straight to the head of the class — especially if this is a car you’ll be lending out to some student drivers.

Refinement on a reinvention

2017 Chevrolet Malibu

The Malibu debuted back in 2015, radically redesigned and — surprisingly — quite striking to behold. That car rolled on a wholly new chassis that was lighter and stiffer than before, enabling this big sedan to feel more lively than it really had any right to.

BMW’s futuristic electric motorbike concept is an urban-warrior’s dream

The stunning BMW Concept 8 Series isn’t the only automotive tease BMW has this week, it also rolled out a brand new vision of zero-emission biking. The BMW Motorrad Concept Link made its debut alongside the Concept 8 Series at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2017, the latest design study from the automaker as it looks ahead to what urban mobility will be like in the years to come. In the case of this particular electric bike, that means styling that manages to be both futuristic and retro simultaneously.

BMW’s futuristic electric motorbike concept is an urban-warrior’s dream

BMW says it went back to basics with that, throwing out any of its existing motorbike design language and starting from scratch. The idea is that the bike should meet “the basic functionality needs, the technical architecture, and the digital reality of today’s users,” Alexander Buckan, Head of Vehicle Design at BMW Motorrad, suggests. What the designers discovered was that an electric drivetrain actually makes that a lot easier.

The Best Windows 10 2-in-1 Tablets of 2017 so far

The Best Windows 10 2-in-1 Tablets of 2017 so far

Last week in Shanghai, away from the very scrutinizing eyes of Western media, Microsoft unveiled the New Surface Pro, a.k.a. not the Surface Pro 5. Reception has been mixed, ranging from “this should have been called the Surface Pro 5” to “meh”. Fortunately, Microsoft’s “tablet that can replace your laptop” is no longer the only game in town. In fact, there’s quite a few of them right now. We take a long at some of the most recent and most enticing 2-in-1 options so far this year to see which one might be the best for your mobile Windows 10 needs.

The New Microsoft Surface Pro

Let’s start with the “granddaddy” of Windows 2-in-1s, at least as far as the new trend goes. The new, numberless Surface Pro is as mixed as the opinions about it. While Microsoft itself almost downplays the new device, this latest gen Surface Pro almost has enough new features to make upgrading from a Surface Pro 4 almost worth it. At the same time, it lacks the punch of a totally new flagship, leaving fans and prospective buyers quite conflicted.

2017 Volkswagen Beetle Dune Convertible Review

2017 Volkswagen Beetle Dune Convertible Review

Is the Volkswagen Beetle a charming slab of four-wheel history brought back to life, or a cynical piece of modern-day memorabilia for baby boomers? On the one hand, the 2017 Beetle Dune Convertible puts a little distance between its droptop and the fairly cliched car it’s based upon. Nonetheless, at around $30k are you paying more for image than anything else?

I’ve never really been a fan of the new Beetle. Its shape has always struck me as too contrived; too knowingly-retro to be anything other than a cloying ploy to drum up sales through rose-tinted reminiscence. The cutesy flower vase on the earlier versions (since abandoned) said it all: the new Beetle was a car for those who wanted a visual reminder of the halcyon days gone by, yet who weren’t willing to give up a VW warranty to get it.

WiMiUS Q4 4K action camera review

As you may or may not know, there is a sea of POV action cameras, aka sports cameras, out there in the market today. Some that you immediately recognize by their commonly used name and some you have never heard of. But one thing is for sure, camera makers are making their move to the 4K resolution for everyday consumers.

This review is for the Q4 4K WiFI Dual Screen action camera from WiMiUS. This is just one of WiMiUS’s model in their line of 4K cameras so be sure to head on over to www.wimius.com and check out their other cameras.

Let’s go ahead and get the specs out of the way first.  The Q4 has the same rectangle matchbox shape that most POV cameras have. It has a nice big 2.0″ in. LTPS screen on the back and a 0.66″ in. Status Screen on the front. The Q4 records to Micro SD cards and up to 64GB.

Top 11 Best Travel Zoom Lenses For Micro Four Thirds Cameras 2017

As we all start to think of beaches, blue skies and warmer climates, we thought we’d suggest some zoom lenses you might want to pack in your travel bag along with your Micro Four Thirds (MFT) camera.

The beauty of MFT cameras is that they’re, generally, compact and lightweight which makes them a perfect travel companion. Add a zoom to this that gives you a variety of focal lengths in one lens body and you’ve got yourself a pretty good travel combo that won’t weigh you down.

As we mentioned in our ‘Top 11 Best Superzoom Lenses For Travel’, zoom lenses are versatile, space-saving pieces of kit that also mean you don’t have to continually change lenses like you would have to if you were working solely with primes.

QLED vs. OLED: What’s the Difference?

Kết quả hình ảnh cho tv

In the world of visually stunning displays, OLED is the gold standard, but Samsung’s QLED technology is looking to challenge this supremacy.

Both screen technologies offer outstanding color representation, deep black levels and thin designs, allowing them to be used in many different ways. And although these displays are  expensive, most screen experts believe the technologies will be around for the long haul.

Still, many people might be questioning the difference between QLED and OLED, and trying to decide which technology is best for them. And unfortunately, the answer isn’t simple.

So, Tom’s Guide compiled the following look at QLED and OLED and the ways they differ. From how they work to where you’ll find them, both OLED and QLED have their fair share of virtues and troubles.

The BMW M8 is real: Here’s what we know

Praise be: BMW has not only previewed the all-new 8 Series Coupe that will launch in 2018, but confirmed a BMW M8 is also headed for production. The car, shown here in early prototype form complete with hefty amounts of camouflage, will be developed in tandem with the 8 Series, BMW has announced today. Full details are scant, but we do have some very intriguing tidbits.

The BMW M8 is real: Here’s what we know

For a start, there are what BMW describes as “Classical M features” for the exterior. The air intakes have been enlarged to feed the engine and improve cooling, while the brakes have been modified to handle a more aggressive driving style. At the rear, a new sports exhaust system gets four tailpipes to bellow through.

“The conception and development of the standard BMW 8 Series and the M model run in parallel,” Frank van Meel, the president of BMW’s M Division, said today of the M8. “The future BMW M8 will build on the genes of the 8 Series and augment its DNA with added track ability and generous extra portions of dynamic sharpness, precision and agility. It all flows into a driving experience that bears the familiar BMW M hallmarks and satisfies our customers’ most exacting requirements.”

ASUS G11 Gaming Desktop Review

The ASUS G11 gaming desktop has been known to offer capable performance without having to overspend thanks to the internal configurations the company has put together. What we have here is the G11CD made up of a Core i7 processor, NVIDIA’s GTX 1070 graphics, 8GB RAM, and 1TB of HDD storage encased in a well-designed shell.

Join us in this review and find out if it can handle the tasks we’ll throw its way and what exactly it can offer its users.

Design and Construction

This mid-tower ASUS G11CD stands at only 16.6 inches tall and is 6.9 inches wide making it fall under the compact category as compared to other rigs.

The CPU tower comprises mostly of a black casing with matte finish commonly seen on gaming PCs. The only part here with a glossy area is the main ‘face’ which houses the optical drive, front ports, and the card reader.

Garmin Fenix 5 v Fenix 5X: Battle of the adventure watches

Which great multisport watch is for you?

If you want a serious adventuring watch, you’ve been spoiled by Garmin’s Fenix 5 series. There’s the flagship Fenix 5, the smaller Fenix 5s, and the biggest, most feature-rich of the three, the Fenix 5X.

Garmin Fenix 5 v Fenix 5X

When we reviewed the Garmin Fenix 5, we were big fans. We believe it to be the king of the multisport smartwatches right now, but the Fenix 5X adds something that most adventurers would love to have: mapping. It’s also quite a bit heftier than the flagship 5.

If you’re a 5 owner, should you shell out the extra cash for mapping features? If you’re not, will the Fenix 5 satisfy your needs? That’s what we’ll explain here. Let’s get ready to rumble.

Vivo V5s Review

Vivo has just officially launched its latest offering and just as the trend goes in the smartphone scene, the newest handset caters to the selfie-centric crowd and it comes with an ‘s’ in its name. Is it worth going for with its Php2K increase in price compared to the V5? We find out.

Design and Construction

The Vivo V5s is the successor of the Vivo V5 with just minor upgrades hence the additional ‘s’ in its name. It still has a 5.5-inch display with a 1280 x 720 resolution topped with 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass.

On top of the display is the 20MP front-facing camera with a f/2.0 aperture for your bright and high-resolution selfies. Meanwhile, down at the bottom is the fingerprint scanner.

Optical vs. Digital Zoom: Why Digital Is No Longer a Dirty Word

You can’t always get right up to what you photograph — be it a band onstage, a kid on a soccer field or animals in nature. That’s why cameras have optical-and digital-zoom capabilities — but these are two very different technologies, so it’s important to know how they work, and when you should use them.

Optical zoom uses lenses to magnify a far-off image. It’s possible to find cameras priced under $150 with lenses that zoom by a factor of 10X; and zoom ranges of 30X and even 60X are becoming common.

However, if you read the product description for these cameras, you’ll often see a second, even bigger, zoom number. This is digital zoom: The camera’s processor crops into the center of the photo.

Origin PC Eon15-S (2017) review

origin-pc-eon15-s-2017-01

A new crop of low-cost but reasonably fast gaming systems has been made possible by Nvidia’s recent GTX 1050 Ti graphics processor, including the Lenovo Legion Y520, Dell Inspiron 15 7000, ASUS ROG Strix GL753 and Acer Aspire VX 15. Origin PC joins the fray with its Eon15-S, breaking new price ground for the custom-build company which traditionally sticks to pricier territory. And based on the latest model of the Eon15-S, I’d say Origin does budget with class, though a little more expensively than some.

The 1050 GTX Ti-equipped notebook buyer likes an afternoon of demon face-punching, but doesn’t don’t care about setting any frame-rate records and can’t tell the difference between 4x and 8x supersampling while running through a swamp. Or does care and can tell, but by necessity is okay trading some speed and quality for price.

Hands on: Voyo VMac Mini PC review

You can’t fault Voyo for trying its best: the Chinese company is attempting to differentiate itself from the constellation of other PC makers out there, unveiling the Voyo VMac Mini PC earlier this year. The name is obviously a crystal clear reference to Apple’s popular Mac Mini.

Not that Voyo’s PC looks like Apple’s box of tricks. The VMac is smaller at 120 x 120 x 27mm and is available in metallic blue, aurora silver, ‘luxury’ gold or champagne gold colours, not just the standard silver aluminium look.

This isn’t Voyo’s first attempt to create a different mini PC, either. Last year’s Voyo V3 left a lasting impression: hardly bigger than a CD box, it packed some serious punch for the price and had only minor issues.

2017 Ducati 1299 Superleggera Review

Ducati raises the bar for semi-production race bikes with its limited-edition 1299 Superleggera. A space-age, carbon-fiber frame, swingarm and wheels carry Ducati’s most powerful twin-cylinder mill to date with 215 horsepower on tap to push a mere 368 pounds. Yeah, that’s right. The good news is that Ducati installed everything it could as far as electronic features go to help riders control all that power and keep the thing dirty-side down. I’m talking a veritable alphabet soup of gadgetry here, so let’s dig in and start deciphering it.

Design

17-1299-superleggera-2_800x0w

Built for speed, the windtunnel-tested shape was painstakingly designed to minimize losses to weight and drag. The structure depends upon a monocoque system that uses the carbon-fiber fairing as a stressed member to complete the assembly. Needless to say, there were significant weight savings here, especially when you consider that the frame itself comes made of carbon-fiber material, as well. Inserts made of 7075 aluminum are laminated into the structure at key points to reinforce and strengthen without adding appreciable weight or bulk.

TomTom Spark 3 Cardio + Music Review: Best GPS Watch

Music is an essential motivating tool when working out. It can provide a steady beat to get you through long slogs and can get your heart pumping to make it up that last hill. That’s why it’s great to see music players built in to more and more GPS watches. TomTom was early on this trend with the Spark Cardio + Music, and the company’s newest device, the Spark 3 Cardio + Music ($249), improves upon that early device greatly.

Not only do you get an integrated heart-rate monitor and the ability to play music without using your phone or iPod, but TomTom also includes a pair of Bluetooth headphones. Plus, the company has made great strides with its app and interface, making this an excellent watch for runners and anyone else who likes to jam out while working out.

Editor’s Note (5/26/17): This review was updated to reflect the fact that TomTom’s app can sync its data with Google Fit and Apple HealthKit.

Rise Vusion House Racer Drone Review

How you feel about drones buzzing around your house probably depends which side of the generation gap you reside. Kids love the idea, but parents aren’t generally in favor. The Vusion House Racer tries to satisfy both parties with an FPV (first-person view) drone that offers speed and maneuverability, but which won’t destroy your family heirlooms in the process. The House Racer does a pretty good job of keeping both sides of this ongoing family dynamic happy; it’s a fun, nippy drone to fly (especially with the FPV headset), but it’s small, light and well-protected enough that it won’t break things.

Design

The House Racer is a slightly unusual-looking drone, in that most drones put the rotor blades above the drone body. Instead, the blades on this 6.5-inch square drone point downward. This orientation can make the drone more responsive and faster, but it also means that the rotors are more prone to getting caught on things. Start this drone in a grassy field, and you are likely to end up with blades of grass tangled in the motors.

Acer Predator Mouse Review: OK, But Could Be Better

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Acer Predator Mouse

Acer makes some pretty decent gaming laptops, but I didn’t understand why it needed a branded mouse to go along with them. After all, if Lenovo’s efforts are any indication, computer manufacturers don’t always make the best peripherals. When I picked up the Acer Predator mouse ($80), I noticed something unusual, though: a SteelSeries logo.

Rather than try its hand at making mice from scratch, Acer subcontracted its mouse to an established player in the space. SteelSeries produces some of the best peripherals on the market; surely, it could take the Acer aesthetic and make it into something truly special.

As generalist gaming mice go, the Predator is huge.

2017 Vanderhall Venice Review

Another “motorcycle” with bucket seats and a steering wheel, but who cares when it’s this awesome!

If you’re of the opinion the Vanderhall Venice is not a motorcycle and shouldn’t be reviewed by a magazine with the URL Motorcycle.com, don’t read this story and spare us the snide remarks in the comments section. If, on the other hand, you’re open-minded and accepting of the fact the Vanderhall is a reverse trike with bucket seats and a steering wheel, and, by default, a motorcycle as far as the California DMV is concerned, keep reading. Feel free to then leave a comment, snide or otherwise. It’s like voting, if you don’t participate, you have no right to complain.

We spied Vanderhall Motor Works last November at the 2016 International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, California. Having never heard of the company, our curiosity was piqued, and we were rewarded with the information that Vanderhall was, in fact, a startup roadster company that calls Provo, Utah home. According to the history page of Vanderhall’s website, R&D prototyping dates all the way back to 2010 with a very different chassis configuration and powerplant from the production model tested here.

Sennheiser 4.50 BTNC vs Sennheiser HD 1 Momentum 2 Wireless Review

There are so many different types of Bluetooth headphones on the market these days. Sennheiser has done their part in releasing their share of wireless cans ranging from affordable to audiophile-grade. In doing so, some customers have asked what are the primary differences between two of their new, popular makes – Sennheiser 4.50 BTNC vs Sennheiser HD 1 Momentum 2 Wireless. You’re about to find out.

Sennheiser 4.50 BTNC vs Sennheiser HD 1 Momentum 2 Wireless Review

Packaging

Breaking down the packaging it’s not hard to tell that the more expensive HD 1 is shipped with premium accessories. The carry case is a hard-grade case, covered in soft fabric. The headphone, which is slipped inside of a silky, soft pouch, is nestled inside of the case and its ear cushions are protected with sponge molds. The 4.50 BTNC is folded and nestled inside of a plastic mold. It is shipped with a pouch, but it is a softer nylon bag. This pouch will also protect the headphones, but it is obviously not of the same caliber.

ASUS GK1100 Mechanical Keyboard Review: Hi-quality Gaming Gear

A solid, if expensive, mechanical keyboard

ASUS is continuing to beef up their gaming peripheral lineup in the Philippines. After releasing high-end ROG mice and keyboards, the Taiwanese company is now releasing a another, metal mechanical keyboard: the GK1100. It’s a solid, if bare-bones mechanical keyboard that’s built to endure countless hours of gaming.

Solid exterior and built like a tank

From our experience so far with ASUS peripherals, the brand doesn’t cheap out on the materials that they use on their keyboards or mice. The GK1100 is no exception to that, as the mechanical keyboard comes with a durable aluminum alloy body. Just like the ASUS ROG Claymore we reviewed a few weeks ago, the GK1100 looks and feels durable enough to be wielded as a melee weapon when the inevitable zombie apocalypse comes(always our benchmark for toughness), and would come out no worse for wear.

2017 CSC Motorcycles RZ3 Review

The California Scooter Company, in cooperation with the Zongshen Industrial Group, is looking to expand its lineup of imported rides with the addition of the RZ3. Similar to last year’s RC3, the RZ3 is all street/sport, but this all-new model adopts more of a naked look to carry the same, 24-horsepower mill. How will it compete in a market already dominated by the Big Four? We’ll just have to wait and see; according to Mr. Steve Seidner down at CSC, the first units should hit the floor sometime around the end of June. Even though it’s only available for pre-order at this time, I’m somewhat familiar with the brand and the RC3, so I thought I’d give the new model a preview based on the preponderance of evidence.

Design

csc-rz3-2_800x0w

No doubt about it, the RZ3 fits the Naked-Euro mold to a “T”. A triangular cyclops headlight rides in a minimal housing that supports an LED halo, turn-signal standoffs and a vestigial flyscreen. Inverted forks and a cut-down front fender lead the way with a racy look that is all business, and altogether less “Transformer-ish” than some current models.

MSI Trident 3 review

MSI has introduced some impressively small PCs over the years, including a gaming-grade Mac Pro rival and a VR-capable backpack rig. However, in many ways, the MSI Trident 3 is the company’s sleekest gaming PC yet.

Marketed as a console-killer, the MSI Trident 3 is about the size of an Xbox One S but packs a ton more power than even the PS4 Pro. This is thanks to its desktop Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics. It’s a tantalizing package – and at a reasonable price, too – which makes the Trident 3 one of the best gaming PCs to have in your living room.

With everything you see above, the MSI Trident 3 as configured runs for $1,499 (about £1,160, AU$2,040). This particular unit MSI sent us is a limited-edition Arctic version of the Trident 3, which comes with a special white paint job and a Nvidia GTX 1070 you’ll only find on this model.

2017 Kia Soul Turbo review

2017-kia-soul-turbo-inline3-photo-672645-s-original

For 2017, Kia has made just a few very small efficiency, style and feature changes to the Soul that make the charming little box just a little bit better and a tad more appealing than it already was. Oh yeah, and the automaker made one massive change: the addition of a top-trim Turbo model, complete with a more powerful 201-horsepower turbocharged engine.

I hit the road in the 2017 Kia Soul Turbo Exclaim near our San Francisco offices to see just how much difference 40 more ponies made to my opinion of the compact SUV.

What’s new?
