BloomSky Sky2 Weather Camera Station review

The $300 BloomSky Sky2 Weather Camera has a list of features that will impress even die-hard weather geeks. It offers the usual array of climate sensors found on weather systems popular among amateur meteorologists and science educators. It can detect temperature, wind speed, rain and air pressure, plus it draws its electrical power from the sun. What makes the BloomSky Sky2 truly unique are its HD camera, its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios, its companion mobile app and the way it ties in with other smart home gadgets and services.

The Sky2 is expensive even if it’s priced competitively against traditional options from weather station specialists Davis and Acurite. Buying a kit like this only really makes sense if it’s in your job description or you have a serious weather fetish and money to burn. Ordinary people with merely a casual interest in local atmospheric conditions are better off consulting a mobile app or choosing a less expensive device such as the $179 Netatmo Weather Station. It doesn’t have a camera or solar power, but the Netatmo is a snap to deploy, and monitors your home environment too.

Samsung Galaxy S8 vs S8 Plus vs LG G6: What’s the difference?

LG new flagship smartphone, the LG G6 was announced at Mobile World Congress at the beginning of March, while Samsung waited until its separate Unpacked event at the end of March to announce its 2017 devices.

Despite LG going for a more innovative route in 2016 with its modular device, ultimately Samsung was the company with the more appealing devices. Is it the same story in 2017 though?

Here is how the newly announced Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus compare to the LG G6.

Hands on: Samsung DeX review

LeGquS4vMxnHrvQjEeXHpn-650-80

The Samsung DeX could be one of the biggest wins from the Galaxy S8 launch, with the clever little dock offering a whole new world for your Samsung phone.

It’s basically a small, squat puck that will allow you to turn your Samsung USB Type-C enabled phone (so, only the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus at this time, since the expiry of the Note 7) in a full desktop experience.

It’s the kind of thing that (as another, more esteemed, journalist pointed out) if Apple did it, the world would go crazy with hot takes on how Apple is trying to cripple its own iPad / Macbook business… where with Samsung it’s likely to go under the radar.

2018 Porsche Macan Review

When Porsche decided to step into the SUV segment with the Cayenne, Porsche purists we’re all that happy, expecting the brand to soldier on with different 911 variants until times end. But, the Cayenne turned out to be a huge success, and the German brand decided to come out with a compact model named the Macan. Originally codenamed Cajun, the Macan hit the market in the spring of 2014 and became an immediate success, being one of Porsche’s most sold models. Be that as it may, the compact luxury segment is intense, so Porsche needs to keep things fresh until the next-gen model comes to be at the turn of the decade.

Now, we’re getting a first look at the facelifted model thanks to a new round of spy shots. There won’t be a whole lot of change on the table, but the headlights and taillights should get a new layout, and it looks like there’s a bigger chin spoiler up front. The interior is set for some minor nips and tucks as well, and the available engines could get some minor retuning to help keep things interesting.

Pentax Q 01 Standard 8.5mm f/1.9 Lens Review

Pentax Q 01 Prime On Q S1 With Hood

The diminutive Pentax Q system gives us the possibility of carrying a whole camera kit weighing no more than 1kg, including all the lenses we could wish to use. Can it possibly offer serious quality for those times we want or need to travel light? Let’s have a look at the Q 01 Standard Prime lens and see what this mini wonder can really do.

Handling and Features

This is tiny! This fast standard prime weighs in at a miniscule 36g, managing to enclose an 8 element in 5 group construction that includes aspheric elements, SMC coating and the SP (Super Protect) grease resistant coating on the front element. Focusing is down to 0.2m, which is not macro but nonetheless usefully close.

What Is 4K TV?

The biggest trend in TVs today is 4K, also known as ultra HD. It’s the latest bid to improve the sharpness and detail of big screen sets, offering about four times the number of pixels of HDTV. And as it has rapidly become the standard for TVs, it’s also spreading to game consoles, laptops, smartphones and camcorders.

Credit: Adobe Stock

The amount of 4K content, however, has not been growing as fast as the number of screens (but it’s coming). That doesn’t mean there’s no use for the new sets: All 4K TVs upscale regular HD content for a near-ultra-HD viewing experience. Furthermore, many 4K TVs support a new, wider color format called high dynamic range (HDR) that delivers many more colors and more intense colors. That means an attention-grabbing picture with more details in bright and dark areas of the picture.

Here’s everything you need to know about 4K or ultra HD but were afraid to ask.

LG X400 Hands-on Review smartphone : fingerprint sensor and Android 7.0 Nougat

There was a lot of rumors about the smartphone LG X400, which interested us primarily for its performance and value. Fortunately, LG has decided to simmer for a long time and showed us interesting smartphone with decent enough features, but with a price tag clearly paid off.

HyperX Cloud Revolver S Review : Loud and (Mostly) Clear

Kết quả hình ảnh cho HyperX Cloud Revolver S Review : Loud and (Mostly) Clear

The HyperX Cloud Revolver was an impressive gaming headset, offering crisp sound within a cozy, sturdy and cool-looking design. The new Revolver S ($149) retains everything great about its predecessor while adding plug-and-play virtual surround sound and a variety of audio preset options. HyperX’s latest headset is much more versatile this time around, though its mixed surround performance makes considering some better alternatives in this premium price range worth it.

Design

The HyperX Cloud Revolver S is virtually identical to the original Revolver, packing the same sturdy steel frame and aggressive-looking, exhaust-like ear cups. The one difference is that the headset features white highlights instead of red, which is a welcome change considering how many gaming peripherals look like they’ve been freshly soaked in blood.

2017 Toyota Corolla Ascent v 2017 Honda Civic VTi-S v 2017 Subaru Impreza 2.0i-L comparison

The last time we took a close look at the small sedan segment in the form of a comprehensive three-way comparison, the new-generation Honda Civic stole the cookies from the previous segment leader, the Hyundai Elantra and a slightly more left field combatant, the Skoda Octavia.

2017 Toyota Corolla Ascent v 2017 Honda Civic VTi-S v 2017 Subaru Impreza 2.0i-L comparison

Often overlooked in favour of the hatch variant within the segment or an (often less practical) SUV, the small sedan is now providing more compelling value for money than ever before. New blood has made the competition even more feverish.

This time, we compare the 2017 Honda Civic VTi-S to the 2017 Subaru Impreza 2.0i-L and the 2017 Toyota Corolla Ascent. Don’t write this segment off as boring either. There’s still a lot to like from a segment that now has more in the way of alternatives than ever before.

Best Fitbit compatible apps to step up your tracking game

Fitbit’s companion smartphone app, whether that’s for Android, iOS or Windows (no, we didn’t forget about you) is a big reason why we continue to recommend it among our best fitness trackers.

But if you yearn for more data and insight, there’s also a healthy amount of third-party app support to make that happen. You can link your Fitbit to a number of other apps, whether they are dedicated running apps, calorie counters or step challenge games.

Best Fitbit compatible apps to try out

To install a Fitbit app just head to Account and scroll down until you see Compatible Apps, and try one of our highlighted picks.

MyFitnessPal

MyFitnessPal is one of the best calorie counter apps out there and while Fitbit does offer its own food logging features, linking the two will help provide a more accurate daily calorie goal. Once you’ve signed up for a MyFitnessPal account, it’s time to ditch food logging in Fitbit and start doing it in the Under Armour-owned app instead.

Fabriq Speaker Review : Alexa to Go, for Less

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Fabriq Speaker

Alexa is coming to take over the world, one speaker at a time. Fabriq was one of the first third-party companies to bake Amazon’s virtual assistant into its Bluetooth speaker. At $50, it’s the same price as the Amazon Echo Dot;but with a battery and better sound, it offers more. If you’re looking for a low-cost way to take advantage of Alexa’s features in a small, portable speaker, the Fabriq could be for you.

Design

At 3.15 x 3.15 x 3.15 inches, the cylindrical Fabriq is smaller than the $129 Amazon Tap but larger than the Echo Dot. It’s easy to carry in one hand, and thanks to its rechargeable battery, you can take it with you.

If the Echo’s staid design isn’t for you, you can choose from one of three colors for the Fabriq: red-and-black “jack plaid”; Earl Grey, a gray pattern; and Splat, which is blue with white, yellow and pink accents. I tested the jack plaid model.

2018 Aston Martin DB11 S Review

Introduced in 2016 as a replacement for the iconic DB9, the Aston Martin DB11 brought the British carmaker into a new era, one that finally sees the old VH platform retire. Now using lighter underpinnings engineered with help from Mercedes-AMG, the grand tourer is more than capable of competing against its more modern rivals. However, the DB11 is still a long way from becoming a proper vehicle lineup, with the V-8 and other iterations still under development. But this may end by the end of 2017, as Aston Martin is already testing a higher performance version of the coupe.

Spotted on public roads for the very first time, the beefed-up DB11 uses a new aerodynamic package that includes a reworked bumper, new side skirts, and a race-inspired diffuser at the back. Although Aston Martin has yet to confirm it is working on a new version and there aren’t many hints out there, I believe that this is a more powerful variant of the DB11. Several reports suggest that it could wear an “S” badge, just like the upgraded version of the Vanquish. Nothing’s official yet, but this test car is definitely not the upcoming V-8 model that will slow below the V-12.

Hands on: Eurocom Sky X4E2 review

The global PC market for consumers has moved on from desktops to laptops, but professionals are still mostly clinging to desktop computers because, historically, they have been far more powerful than their portable counterparts.

Over the past few years though, the tables have turned with mobile workstations becoming more and more powerful as component manufacturers focus their R&D efforts on designing small, power-sipping parts that can be used both on laptops and desktops.

In the world of mobile powerhouses, there are only two big players outside of the usual household names (Lenovo, HP, Dell, MSI etc) and both are relatively unknown to the wider community. Quanta and Clevo are both based in Taiwan and account for almost all of the mobile workstations sold globally.

All We Know: Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus

This everything you can expect from Samsung’s new flagship

Samsung’s upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus is probably one of the most documented smartphones to date that hasn’t been released officially. There’s so much information out in the web right now that we can begin to construct an accurate picture of what to expect from the Korean company’s latest and greatest. So today, we’re doing exactly that. Here’s all we know about the flagship so far, brought to you by leaks all around the web:

It’ll have gigantic displays and a slim body

The most obvious new feature that the new Galaxy S8 smartphones have are its displays: a 5.8-inch panel for the Galaxy S8 and a 6.2-inch panel for the S8 Plus. That’s not surprising at the least, since flagships are getting bigger and bigger displays nowadays, but what is impressive is how small both phones are relative to their screen size – the Galaxy S8 Plus, for example, looks no bigger than LG’s V20 flagship while having a display that’s substantially bigger. We expect this to be true of the smaller Galaxy S8 as well.

5 reasons why Google Home will beat Amazon Echo

Google Home is among the most interesting of the search king’s current hardware offerings, not least because it sets the stage for an epic showdown between two tech giants.

What is Google Home? Put simply it’s a smart speaker, but one that’s aimed at pulling together the big G’s smart home and audio visual offerings, both past and present. Not only that, it also draws from Google’s formidable experience in search to offer information when you want it, where you want it.

Google, however, isn’t alone in offering a smart speaker: the Amazon Echo has taken off as a way to interact with the smart home and beyond. Echo has sold surprisingly well, and even spurred a whole line of Echo-compatible products.

As good as Echo is, we think the new kid on the block stands a good chance of silencing its reign. Here are five reasons we think Google Home is the product to dethrone the mighty Echo.

Blink Security Camera Review : Very Good for the Price

Kết quả hình ảnh cho Blink Security Camera

With every technological advance in gadgetry, the first product out of the sandbox is often the high-end, sleek, feature-laden product for early adopters. But shortly after that, the affordable, entry-level, simple gadget makes its way into the marketplace.

Blink (starting at $99) is in the latter category, offering a limited feature as the trade-off for an inexpensive, easy-to-use, webcam-based home-security camera — and with a no-frills app to match. It’s one of the best bare-bones security cameras we’ve tested — the only real competition is the Belkin NetCam HD+, which has to use wired power — and Blink’s free cloud storage is an added bonus.

Design

The design of the Blink camera and its Sync Module (a small hub) is very Apple-esque. With its eggshell-white color scheme (if you can call monochromatic a scheme), rounded corners and minimalist feel, you basically end up with small, square-ish modules that are each 2.8 x 2.8 x 1.2 inches— about the size of a drink coaster, and weighing only 3.3 ounces.

UE Wonderboom review

The phrase “Plug and play” doesn’t really apply to wireless speakers, not least because playing via Bluetooth means there’s nothing to plug in as such.

If there were, however, the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom would certainly fit that category. It’s simple to set up, will survive being bashed around, and has great sound to boot.

Build

The Wonderboom might be about as big as a coffee mug, but it certainly won’t break quite so easily.

UE says you can drop this speaker from up to 5ft without any concerns about damaging it. We tried it a few times without issue, but of course it’s probably better to take a bit more care.

And with summer fast approaching, it’s handy this speaker can be taken to the pool or beach. An IPX7 rating means it’ll survive being in water for up to 30 minutes. You don’t have to worry about losing it to the depths either – the Wonderboom floats.

iOS 10.3 Arrives : Here Are the Top New Features

The Biggest Changes in iOS 10.3

Apple rolls out major changes to its iOS mobile operating system in the fall, but every so often, a significant update appears before then that introduces a few noteworthy new powers to your iPhone and iPad. That’s the case with iOS 10.3, which is now available.

From a new file system and better app management to changes to key apps, there are some significant additions to iOS 10.3 that give your iPhone new powers. Here’s a look at the handful of iOS 10.3 changes that figure to have the biggest impact on you and your Apple device.

A New File System

With iOS 10.3, Apple switches over from HFS+ to the new Apple File System, a move that happens automatically when you install the update. Apple File System is expected to take advantage of Flash and SSD storage and might result in faster read and write speeds, but this feels like more of a forward-looking move in advance of this fall’s anticipated iOS 11 update. We’re mentioning it here because some users have reported losing files stored on their iPhone when upgrading to iOS 10.3. To avoid a similar fate, back up your iPhone before you upgrade.

Find My AirPods

Apple’s wireless AirPods are lightweight, easy to pair with your iPhone and long-lasting. They’re also fairly petite and, therefore, not the easiest things to keep track of. Not to worry: iOS 10.3 will do the hard work for you. As previously promised, the update adds an AirPod-finding feature to the Find My iPhone app, which will log the last location where your earbuds and phone were connected.

Get a Weather Report in Maps

If you have an iPhone that has 3D Touch support (an iPhone 6s or later), iOS 10.3 adds a new capability to the Maps app. Press on the weather icon on the right side of the Maps screen, and a weather widget will pop up to give you a six-hour forecast of what kind of weather to expect at that location. Keep pressing and the built-in Weather app itself will launch, giving you the chance to add that location to your favorites.

Add Podcasts to Your Today Screen

I’m a big fan of the Today screen in iOS 10, which I can customize to my heart’s content by adding useful widgets, which are at-a-glance looks from some of the apps I have installed on my phone. Apple’s own Podcasts apps now join the ranks of iOS apps with helpful widgets. Just scroll to the bottom of the Today screen, tap edit, and then hit the green plus button next to the Podcasts app. The Podcasts widget will list unplayed episodes; tapping the icon of one of your podcasts will play the most recent one.

Your Apple ID Info in One Place

This is more of a housekeeping issue, but it’s a pretty convenient one for accessing your iCloud, App Store and iTunes information from one location. The top of the Settings app now features your Apple ID Profile. Tap that area and you can drill down into such handy features as changing your password and security profile, accessing your iCloud account, changing your contact info and selecting a new payment method, among other tasks.

iCloud Storage at a Glance

While you’re in that Apple ID Profile, tap on iCloud. The top of the subsequent screen will include a new storage section with a visual breakdown of how much cloud storage you’re using along with how much is taken up by photos, backups, docs and email. Tap further, and you can manage your storage, either deleting items you no longer want to store in iCloud or paying for more storage space.

2017 Ducati Monster 797 Review: First Ride

Hemlines and exhausts go up and down, radiators come and go, but the Monster hasn’t really ever gone out of fashion since it hit the runway, dang, has it really been 23 years ago? 1994 brought us Miguel Galluzzi’s original naked bike, and there’s been a veritable plethora of Monsters over the years ever since. Also Monsterinos, as Ducati likes to call the smaller-displacement ones.

The new 797 really does pay its respects to the original, right down to the very nice aluminum clasp that holds down the front of its 4.4-gallon steel fuel tank. The steel trellis frame is an important design element; the red frame and alloy cooling fins are now a classic combination (or you can go dark and get a black bike with black frame), complete with passenger grab rails which provide a good place for bungee hooks. The single not-quite round headlight incorporates a couple of LED marker lights, which you’ll find in the tail and turnsignal lights too.

Pro-Ject Primary review

Buying a turntable isn’t unlike choosing a pastry in that you might be tempted to go for the one with the biggest slice.

When it comes to budget turntables, the brand with the biggest slice of the market has long been Pro-Ject, thanks to its multi-Award-wining Elemental and Essential models.

The vinyl revival has fiercely shaken up the market for turntables, with an influx of affordable competition both new (Crosley and Ion) and old (Sony, Audio Technica, TEAC and Pioneer).

Pro-Ject has launched two new Primary turntables: the standard phono stage-free deck we have here, and a £250 Phono USB model that has a built-in phono stage and can convert vinyl to digital files via a USB output.

Citroen C3 (2017) review: Bringing back the oh la la

Citroen has been through something of a rough patch. With German cars often being the first choice, the French have been fighting to get back some of the verve and passion that they used to possess.

For Citroen, much of the small car amour found itself directed into DS. The DS3 is a wonderful little car, but its “avant garde” design, sitting alongside the old C3, makes Citroen’s car look rather boring.

Things have changed gear for the new C3, which was announced in late 2016 and will be tearing onto the roads in 2017. It brings passion and style back to this compact hatch. Make no mistake: this is no longer the option for Grandma, unless she’s very cool.

ASUS ROG Strix GL502VS vs Acer Predator 15 (G9-593) – choosing from the best

Today we want to provide you with a detailed comparison of two great gaming notebooks. Both models were released at the end of last year and were one of the first to incorporate the latest NVIDIA Pascal generation of graphics cards. Speaking of which both models are equipped with the powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070.

On one side of the ring, we have the elegant ASUS ROG Strix GL502VS and on the other side – the mighty Acer Predator 15 (G9-593). In terms of specs, both notebooks are nearly identical so it will be a ferocious fight but in the end, one of them will take the crown or who knows – maybe where one falls short the other will compensate and vice versa. Stick around and find out.

Design and construction

ASUS ROG Strix GL502VS offers a design worthy for a premium gaming notebook. The overall build feels solid and stable. The lid catches the eye with its LED-illuminated ROG logo and two stripes in the middle that are in contrast to the black brushed aluminum.

Fitbit Alta HR review : The new Alta HR plays to Fitbit’s strengths with improved fitness tracking

The Fitbit Alta HR is a return to the company’s strongest suit, with a focus on sleep, wellbeing and heart health rather than all-out fitness. Vifa Oslo portable Bluetooth speaker review : A Danish delight for the deep-pocketed

Luxurious design, fabulous sound, and a fat price tag characterize this mobile sound system.

The Oslo is pricey and is not well protected from the elements, but it sounds as beautiful as it looks.

Being a function-over-form kinda guy, I was skeptical when presented with Vifa Oslo’s high-fashion looks and $549 price tag. The absence of any protection from the elements only amplified that emotion: You’ll look like a swell strolling the Côte d’Azur with this portable speaker, but you’d better not take it to the beach. It took just a few listening sessions for me to reconsider my doubts.

Vifa is a new brand to me, and its marketing is clearly aimed at the hipster set (of which I am most definitely not a member). But it turns out the company was founded in Denmark way back in 1933, and it has spent most of its existence building loudspeaker units for other manufacturers. It only entered the retail market on its own in 2014. The Oslo is part of a family of wireless speakers named after Nordic capital cities: Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Helsinki. The first two models are larger than the Oslo, while the Helsinki is slightly smaller.

How to Upgrade the RAM (Memory) on a Laptop

Whether your older laptop is feeling sluggish or your newer system starts chocking up when you have too many tabs open, adding more RAM could solve the problem. If your computer doesn’t have enough physical memory, it starts swapping data to your hard drive or SSD, which is infinitely slower than even the slowest RAM chip. While not all modern laptops give you access to the RAM, many do provide a way to upgrade your memory.

install memory

If you can upgrade your laptop’s memory, it won’t cost you much money or time. Moving from 4 to 8GB (the most common upgrade) usually costs between $25 and $55, depending on whether you need to buy the whole amount or just add 4GB. And the process of swapping out RAM chips should take between 5 and 10 minutes, depending on how many screws you have to remove. Here’s how to upgrade your laptop’s memory.

My first GPS-enabled watch was the New Balance Runner 1K2. With Moto adding metal design touches to a G-series phone for the first time, the G5 Plus looks way slicker than earlier Moto models, too. And, unlike other budget unlocked phones, this one supports all the major U.S. carriers.
