Muzik One Review

Muzik CEO Jason Hardi started his headphone company back in 2013 to, as he puts it, “connect the world.” But even though he’s been showing off versions of the hardware throughout the years — and even received a small investment from Twitter earlier this year — it’s never actually made it to market. Until a couple of months ago. That’s when Hardi and co. finally unveiled the Muzik One, which launched alongside a partnership with Spotify. What’s the big deal? Well, the One is a pair of “connected” headphones that lets you share whatever you’re listening to on the social media platform of your choice with just a tap of a button. Sharing music has never been so easy. Whether or not that’s worth $300, however, is less clear.

muzik-headphones-armtwist-1500x1000

Regardless of its song-sharing features, these headphones look and feel like a really nice set of cans. It’s constructed out of aircraft aluminum and a soft supple leather covers both the handle as well as the ear cup cushions. Plus, the headphones fold inward for better portability. I’ve carried them around in my backpack and even my smaller shoulder bag without any problems.

Kobo Aura H2O review : This e-reader is pool and bathtub-ready

If you do a lot of your reading poolside, on a boat, in the bath, or in the desert, the Kobo Aura H2O’s IP67 rating for water and dust resistance offers an impressive amount of protection from water and dust incursion. But other, less-expensive e-readers deliver better reading experiences.Kết quả hình ảnh cho Kobo Aura H2O review : This e-reader is pool and bathtub-ready

Bathtubs, swimming pools—liquids in general, really—are the natural enemies of books. Get one wet, even once, and it’ll never be the same again. So too electronics, which makes many of the places we like to read—at the beach, in the bathtub, or anywhere water is present—a risky location. That’s not the case with the Kobo Aura H2O. As its name implies, it’s designed to wade into water and come out the other side unharmed and ready to use. Unfortunately, a number of disappointing quirks prevent us from giving it a strong recommendation.

Honda Mobilio CVT Review

Imagine having a long time crush. For years, you and the object of your admiration have been in contact on and off. You know there’s something there, but it was never the right time for the both of you. Because of that, there’s not much beyond the smiling in the hallways or the occasional hi and hello. Then suddenly, after some years, in the style of When Harry Met Sally, you find yourselves crossing paths again. This time, someone said, “Hey, you know, I’ve always wanted to ask you out”. After going on a few dates, you realize that during all the time you’ve looked from afar at this person, you’ve built up an image of them that they themselves cannot live up to. Even after the years of anticipation, this one is just not all they were cracked up to be.

Having time in the Honda Mobilio RS Navi CVT is a similar experience.

For a long time, the desire to be behind the wheel of an RS straight out of the factory was left unfulfilled. During that period, articles were read, videos watched, and pictures downloaded, hoping for the opportunity to one day get behind the wheel of a road going version of a race car. However, when the time came to get behind the wheel of an RS and taste the racing heritage imbued in that automobile, the realization that the sporty image is nothing more than a ruse to get your butt on the seat instantly dawned.

Garmin Approach X40 review : The first true everyday golf wearable impresses

We’re big fans of the Approach X40 and it’s become our go-to golf watch. While elements of the shot tracking and advanced scoring are too fiddly and ended up turned off in the long term, the breadth of golf data in such a lightweight form-factor make it a firm favourite at Wareable. Added workout modes, all-day activity tracking and smartwatch features make the X40 the first golf device that’s genuinely useful away from the course, and as such, highly recommended.

Status Audio CB-1 review

statusaudiocb1

The Status Audio CB-1 headphones’ generic looks don’t do justice to their audio quality. Frankly, after not being overly impressed with the company’s HD2 premium over-the-ear consumer headphones, we almost passed on reviewing the CB-1s. That would have been a mistake.

True to the company’s claims, the closed-back, over-the-ear headphones sound flat or neutral, which is typically what you want for studio work. They’re well balanced, making them a good choice for listening to a wide variety of musical styles. Also, their neutrality allowed me to use them all day without fatigue. For their $79 cost (about £55 or AU$110), I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

2016 Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG review

I recently showed the SUV seen here to Rob, a car-loving friend. After studying its appearance, climbing in and around it, fiddling with the power driver’s seat and listening to the engine fire up, he offered up his first impression: “This thing is absurd. It…it makes no…no sense. It’s just so…stupid,” he stammered.

That comment was still hanging in the air when he quickly followed it up with, “So, how much do you think it’d be for a used one? I’d totally drive this.”

It didn’t take my friend more than 15 minutes of pawing around to arrive at the same conclusion that took me a week’s worth of driving to figure out. This 2016 Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG — all $223,575-worth of 12-cylinder-powered Mesozoic-era Brinks truck — is at once ridiculous, terrible and amazingly wonderful. So amazing, in fact, that if I hit the PowerBall, my lizard brain would surely have me reflexively headed to my nearest Benz dealer.

Mazda 2 Genki v Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo comparison

Light car sales may be down an alarming 16 per cent this year, but they’re still big business. Here we pitch two of the better contenders against each other, one a new kid on the block and the other a well-established leader of the pack.

They are the newly launched Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo — a niche player known by relatively few — and the well-loved Mazda 2 Genki, consistently one of the top sellers in this class.

Why compare this pair? Because the market here is often driven by image, and the quirky Czech Skoda comes with something very important — a point of difference. But is this enough to tempt buyers away from the familiar Mazda?

Best Bluetooth headphones for running

Run with freedom by connecting your smartwatch to a pair of these

When it comes to buying the perfect pair of Bluetooth headphones for running, things just got a lot smarter. The latest models can check heart rate from the ear and monitor a host of other fitness metrics, making them powerful training tools.

The focus has very much been on wrist-based heart rate monitors, such as the Garmin Forerunner 35, Fitbit Charge 2, and, of course, Apple Watch Series 2.

However, our testing of the latest biometric headphones has shown them to be incredibly accurate. The thin skin in the ear makes readings easier to take, and we’ve found headphones can be more responsive to changes in heart rate than wrist-based counterparts.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (3rd generation) review : The best e-reader for the buck

It’s not Amazon’s most expensive e-readery, but it delivers the best value of any e-reader.

Kindle Paperwhite hero

You’ll be hard pressed to find a more competent, feature-packed e-reader for the money. But we recommend paying a little extra to avoid Amazon’s “special offers” option that puts ads on the Paperwhite’s lock screen.

With its desirable features, pocketable size, and reasonable price tag, Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite has been a safe bet to gift or recommend to voracious readers since 2012. After its most recent design refresh, Amazon’s mid-range e-reader rivals e-readers that cost considerably more.

Zotac GTX 1050 Mini Review: Pefect Solution For The Budget Gamer

While NVIDIA’s Pascal-powered GTX 1060, GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 have things covered in the high-end of the spectrum, budget PC gamers have been waiting quite a while for a budget-oriented, Pascal card since the debut of the GTX 1080 back in May.

zotac-gtx-1050-04

Well, penny-pinching gamers rejoice – there’s finally a budget GPU built on the new Pascal architecture – the GTX 1050, and the 1050 Ti. Today we’ll be taking out a card made by Zotac to see just what this budget GPU can do.

The GTX 1050 is a relatively smaller card compared to its bigger brothers, owing to its less complex architecture. Zotac’s example for review is the mini version of the GTX 1050, meant for compact gaming and media PCs. As such it only has a single 90mm fan for cooling, and a smaller, aluminum sunflower heatsink. One nice thing about GTX 1050s is the fact that it takes power directly from the PCIe bus – no external power is needed for the card to work. There’s a single DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI-I connector at the rear.

Nyrius Aries Pro Wireless HDMI Transmitter Review

Cutting the cable is still a dream for most gear addicts. The interior decorator in your household might be more accepting of new gadgets if you can also get rid of the wire clutter. Thankfully, my household is a bit different, because we’re both technology freaks, which makes reducing wires even more critical for us. As promised a few weeks ago, and still in pursuit of the perfect wireless transmission system for my oh-so challenging concrete house, I had a chance to review the Nyrius Aries Pro Wireless HDMI system.

2

The Aries Pro (MSRP $250, originally $400) is designed to transmit from any HDMI device to a TV or monitor in up to 1080p HD with 3D capability. It has almost zero lag or latency, making it ideal for business and gaming scenarios. Its main advantage is that it can be used to connect a camera or drone to a monitor, a laptop to a TV, or have a wireless connection to a projector. It could also be used to simply transmit HD signal from a cable box in one room to a TV in another room.

Hands on: Dell Vostro 14 5000 review

Dell is appealing to on-the-go small business workers who may be on a fairly modest budget with its refreshed Vostro 14 5000, which benefits from Intel’s new Kaby Lake CPU architecture.

felny4vmjagd2hm5jmnddb-650-80

It’s available in two colors: ‘Graphite Silver’, which our review model came in, and ‘Graphite Red’.

Seen from above, the Vostro reminds us of one of Toshiba’s low-end Satellite-series models, though thankfully Dell has chosen not to place the trackpad to the left-of-center, instead keeping it down the middle.

The Dell’s appearance is far from offensive – it just looks dated due to the bulky thickness of its rear. Despite featuring a tapered design, at 18.5mm thick, even the front of the machine is around double the chunk of top-line models such as Dell’s own XPS 13.

Bose SoundTouch 300 review

Bose’s latest soundbar offering, the SoundTouch 300, is much like the Build-A-Bear concept.

Choose your basic product first, then accessorise away to your heart’s desire.

In this instance, you can add Bose’s Acoustimass 300 wireless subwoofer (£600/$900) and Virtually Invisible 300 wireless surround speakers (from £250/$375) – for a more compelling surround sound system that’s still more compact than most traditional speaker packages.

Of course, the single-bar route has a space-saving benefit over multi-speakers, and in that respect, the SoundTouch 300 does a fine job of spreading sound around a room independent of any assistance.

2016 Lexus ES 350 review

Luxury automakers constantly assault you with advertisements, claiming that it’s never been easier to nestle into the lap of luxury. With base models offering ridiculously attractive pricing, it all seems rather attainable. But let me tell you — what you get for that advertised price ain’t always exactly luxurious, and it might make more sense to avoid going with a premium badge altogether.

920x920

Thus is the conundrum with the 2016 Lexus ES 350, equipped as my review model was, which is to say not terribly well. It represents the least expensive way to pick up any new Lexus sedan, but at $38,000 before taxes and delivery, it’s tough to make the value argument when you’re staring down non-luxury vehicles that can arrive on your driveway with much of its ride quality and way more luxury and safety options and doo-dads for much less money.

2016 Lamborghini Huracán Spyder review

There’s a rift among supercar buyers, a division among those lucky few who drop unimaginable sums to own an exceptionally rare means of transportation. The first group are the adrenaline-seekers who crave performance, who look at horsepower and handling above all else. In the second group live those who want the lifestyle, the image and the attention associated with rolling up to the club in a car that very well may be worth more than the club itself.

6-3-2016-3-25-58-pm-1099450

The two groups tend to coexist rather peacefully, but with the new $262,350 Lamborghini Huracán Spyder, they may find themselves with more in common than just swollen bank accounts and enviously packed garages. Lamborghini’s latest drop-top ticks all the right boxes from a performance standpoint, yet still has the outrageous presence and visibility to get you noticed wherever you go. This, dear readers, is a special machine.

Naim Mu-so and Mu-so Qb review: music to my ears

These days, the names of Harman Kardon and Bose are becoming more and more prevalent, especially in tech and in cars, but they are hardly the only trusted Hi-Fi names in the audio market. And while Sonos has had a good head start in the wireless Wi-Fi speaker market, it’s hardly the only game in town. And depending on your audio proclivities, it might not even be the best. Naim’s name holds just as much weight as the top players, especially in the UK, and while its first wireless system, the Mu-so, is almost two years old, it, together with the Mu-so Qb wireless speakers, remain one of the best sounding wireless audio systems money can buy.

naim-review-23-960x720

Prestigious pedigree

Don’t let the odd sounding name put you off. Naim has been in the industry for decades, tracing back its humble beginnings to power amplifiers before rising to become one of the UK’s top hi-fi equipment manufacturers. And if you ever need proof of its quality and prestige, you need only look at its three Queen’s Awards for Enterprise and its partnership with Bentley, a name that is also synonymous with luxury in cars.

2017 Kia Soul Turbo first drive and review – it’s invigoratingly hamstertastic

In an age of homogenized design, the Soul is unmistakably a Kia and, internally, it’s known as the company’s most affordable “halo car”. It’s the heart and soul of the company – no pun intended – and in its eight years of production it has smoked the competition, leaving many in the dust and others out of production altogether. Yup, this car is that good – and per the company, the Soul has multi-generational reach across buying demographics.

Photo by Vincent Nguyen: Soul Turbo

To be frank, it’s an odd looking car – no, not to the extent of Honda Element-odd, but still funky to look at – and that’s a good thing. According to Kia, consumers love it, adding up to 150,000 Soul-addicted drivers on the road last year alone. It’s a fun car that gets you from point A to point B while showing off a lot of attitude in the process. I must confess, when I first saw the Soul my thinking was more along the lines of “what the hell is this thing?” than instant appreciation, and it was only on a later press drive that I finally got what all the fuss was about. Now, new for 2017, the Soul Turbo is a welcome addition to the Kia family.

Samsung HW-K850 review

What do you if you want the benefits of Dolby Atmos– a truly involving and immersive sonic experience – but wrapped up in a neat package that can sit underneath your television?

Samsung believes it has the answer in its HW-K850 soundbar.

Build

The trick up the K850’s proverbial sleeve is the two 6cm up-firing drivers on the top of the soundbar.

By reflecting sound off your ceiling, it aims to give the impression that audio is coming from above and in front of you.

Running along the front of the 120cm long soundbar are nine more drivers: three 35mm tweeters on each end of the bar, and one in the middle, and six 5cm midrange drivers – these are divided into threes for the left, centre, and right channels, all driven by 360W of power amplification.

2016 Bentley Continental GT review

For British automaker Bentley, the name Continental implies Europe, where drivers can log many more miles than the distance between John ‘o Groats and Penzance, about as far as you can go in the UK without crossing seas. As such, Bentley designed the 2016 Continental GT V8 S for a trip from Plymouth to Prague, or Barcelona to Rome, likely with a stop in Monaco.

2016-bentley-gt-speed-coupe-interior-rear-seat-diamond-tufted-upholstery1-600-001

To get some sense of its long-range behavior, I took the 2016 Continental GT V8 S on a run from San Francisco to Los Angeles, and back again, traversing both the long highway and crowded urban centers.

The test brought to light the efficiency of Bentley’s powerful V-8 engine, a newer option for the still-available W-12 cylinder, the comfort of its cabin and chassis, and the accuracy of its navigation. And cruising through Los Angeles and San Francisco showed bystanders’ reaction to the Continental’s subtle styling and can’t-ignore-it Monaco Yellow paint job.

The best wearable payment devices : Put the bank card down and pay with your body

Wearables aren’t just for showing smartphone notifications and tracking your fitness (or lack of it): a growing number of them are adding contactless payments to the mix.

With Android Pay set to arrive on Android Wear very soon, NFC wearable payments on the way to Fitbit and Mastercard bringing payment tech to trackers, mobile payments are really ramping up on wearables.

According to Juniper Research, mobile and wearable payments will hit $100 billion by 2018.

The technology is tested and easy to implement, and that means we’re seeing it appear in all sorts of places. While there are plenty more companies expected to jump aboard, here are the ones that work right now.

2017 Ford Escape review

02-2017-ford-escape-fd-1

Major changes to chassis and sheet metal used to signal a new generation of a particular model, but Ford’s 2017 Escape feels like a whole new car with just engine and tech changes. Much of its structure carries over from the previous model year, but redesigns for grille and interior, engine upgrades, driver assistance systems and new connected technology adds up to more than a simple refreshed model.

Let’s start in the engine bay. Last year’s base 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated engine and the 2.0-liter turbocharged Ecoboost engines persist. The larger engine is good for 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. The 2.0-liter turbo gets a 5 horsepower boost, to 275, and a 5 pound-feet torque boost, to 245. Those are pretty big numbers for a small SUV, and something to consider if you frequently fill all the seats, carry cargo and pull a trailer.

Promate Encore Over-Ear Wired Headphones Quick Review

So far we’ve brought you our thoughts on a couple of Promate products, this time we’re testing their over-ear wired headphones – the Promate Encore. It boasts “high definition stereo quality sound” but can it live up to its claim? Let’s find out in our quick review.

Design and Construction

At first glance, the Promate Encore looks like your typical over-ear headphones – big headband with chunky circular housings. It is almost 100% made of plastic, from the bands to the housings, except for the metal screws and the textile covering the drivers.

The paddings used are made of faux leather which feels firm yet soft enough when squeezed. The rest of the body features a matte finish which resists fingerprints and smudges well.
