Anthem MRX 1120 A/V Receiver Review

Much like a luxury sports car, the flagship AVR is expected to have every bell and whistle under the hood in order to appeal to the well-heeled crowd that’s willing to drop a few thousand dollars on a piece of electronics. The real bummer is that even if you spend the extra cash on a flagship, there’s no such thing as totally future-proofing your investment, due to the rapidly changing landscape of the home theater business.

23438522753_0e1d1ccd56_b

This has been especially true during the past few years in which 3D has come and (thankfully) gone, and when we’ve witnessed the rise of 4K even before a final industry-wide spec was finalized! At first, 4K was boasting a bump in resolution, which is all fine and dandy.

Apple MacBook Pro (2016) vs Apple MacBook Pro (2015): What’s the difference?

Apple’s new MacBook Pro is finally here, with Touch Bar, hefty price tag, and all.

Before you spend all your hard-earned cash, take a moment to compare the new laptop to its predecessor. Yes, the old model doesn’t come with that fancy OLED touch strip, but if you’re on a budget, every little bit counts, and not upgrading to the latest tech may be in your favour. However, you should know that the MacBook Pro (2016) also brings better graphics and streamlined connections.

Keep in mind there is also a new MacBook Pro (2016) 13-inch model with no Touch Bar. We aren’t comparing that model in this piece, however. To see how that machine dukes it out against the MacBook Air (2015), go here.

New MacBook Pro hands-on

Somehow both familiar and fresh, the new MacBook Pro is more than the sum of its parts: there’s some witchcraft in here, too. I’ve spent some hands-on time with Apple’s new flagship notebook, just announced at the company’s Cupertino HQ in California today, and it’s the upgrade many Mac users have been waiting with middling degrees of patience. More importantly, it feels like the final piece of Apple’s argument against touchscreen notebooks and 2-in-1s.

The rumor machine may have spoiled the big Touch Bar surprise – even if we weren’t entirely sure of its name at the time – but there’s a big difference between seeing it in renders and using it in person. It’s definitely the feature your eyes latch onto first when you see the new MacBook Pro, eclipsing the skinnier body and even the larger trackpad. When it comes down to it, our eyes are used to regular aspect-ratio displays, and that’s very different from this narrow strip.

OnePlus 3T vs OnePlus 3 vs OnePlus 2: What’s the rumoured difference?

This is how the OnePlus 3T is rumoured to compare to this year’s OnePlus 3 and last year’s OnePlus 2, based on the speculation.

Yamaha YAS-106 Soundbar Review : Boom for the Buck

A “budget” soundbar doesn’t necessarily mean “cheap” anymore, now that sub-$200 models come standard with Bluetooth connectivity and surround sound. Yamaha’s latest $200 soundbar, the YAS-106, also includes HDMI and 4K pass-through, making it an attractive addition to your TV — especially when space is limited. However, its booming bass can be overwhelming.

Design

The YAS-106 is a small soundbar at 35 x 5 x 2 inches, but don’t let the size fool you — it’s more than up to the task of producing big sound. On the left and right sides, it packs a 2.-inch woofer, a 3-inch subwoofer and a 1-inch tweeter. Unlike many soundbars today, the YAS-106 doesn’t come with a separate subwoofer, but it’s got enough built-in bass that you won’t miss it — and you won’t have to worry about finding space for it on the floor.

Meze 99 Classics Headphones Review

99-classics-crafted-with-love2

Call me shallow, but I fell deeply in love with the Meze Classics 99 headphones even before I heard them. Those precision carved, hand-finished, solid wood earcups, stainless steel headband, self-adjusting headband strap, and sumptuous earpads all lend a luxury feel to the design, though the price is solidly affordable. No other headphones near the price look and feel like the 99 Classics.

My review sample featured Meze’s light maple earcups, but you can also get 99 Classics with dark walnut cups. Meze claims the process of making a single pair of earcups takes up to 8 hours. Meze is based in the Transylvania region of Romania, but the headphones are made in China.

The 99 Classics feature proprietary 40mm drivers, and impedance is rated at an easy-to-drive 32 ohms. Even with the wood earcups, the 99 Classics weigh just 9.2 ounces, pretty light for a pair of full-size, over-the-ear headphones. The closed-back design doesn’t provide all that much isolation from external noise. You get two sets of Kevlar-reinforced, cloth-covered cables: a 44-inch one with a mic and phone controls, and a 9.5-foot one for home use. Both cables are terminated with 3.5mm plugs, and you get a 6.3mm adapter plug.

Hive Active Heating 2 review

Turning your home into a smart home is still a scary prospect for many – mainly because it sounds like something that will cost a lot of money there’s an assumption you have to go ‘all in’ to get any real benefits. This just isn’t the case anymore, however, with smart systems such as Hive allowing you to start off small and add some smarts to your home bit by bit.

We’ve had Hive for more than a month now and as each week has passes we’ve found something new to do with it.

At its heart, Hive is a smart heating system, but the brand has been expanding over the last four years to offer up a whole-home smart setup. It’s this modular approach to creating a smart home that users will benefit from – you can use Hive to heat your house and have fun doing this, or you can allow it to take control of lights, sensors and more, all of which are easy to control through the accompanying Hive app.

Panasonic LX15 vs Sony RX100 V vs Canon G7X II Camera Comparisons

Find out what separates these three premium compact cameras – it’s the Panasonic LX15 vs Sony RX100 V vs Canon G7X II

It’s a great time to be shopping for premium compact cameras; in the past few weeks we’ve seen two exciting new launches to the market in the shape of the Panasonic LX15 and the Sony RX100 V. We pit those cameras against each other, throwing in the already established (and well-respected) Canon G7X II into the mix for good measure.

Panasonic LX15 vs Sony RX100 V vs Canon G7X II: Sensor

All three of these premium compact cameras have a one-inch sensor, all sporting 20.1 megapixels – the pixel count of choice it would seem for cameras of this type. There’s little to separate out the sensors, especially before full testing has taken place. We do know that the Sony RX100 V has a “stacked” design, which certainly makes it the best image quality in terms of Sony RX100 models to date.

Audi R8 Spyder (2016) review: Tinnitus, tyre marks and turned heads guaranteed

Audi R8 owners dislike the sentiment, but the German speed machine has always been the sensible supercar.

The controlled but elegant exterior styling, the impressive interior technology and its ability to make terrible drivers feel confident behind the wheel has seen it find a home with those wanting all-out performance but also a vehicle that can handle a trip to Waitrose every once in a while.

For these reasons alone, the flamboyant Lamborghini and Ferrari ownership setoften dismisses the machine as a tarted-up TT. But the latest drop-top version, the R8 Spyder, is living proof that the everyday supercar can easily mix it with the big boys.

Yes, it’s strangely comfortable and almost irritatingly adept at eating the motorway miles, but unpeel the beautifully complex fabric hood, hit the sports exhaust buttons and unleash all 533bhp from the naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 and it’s difficult not to be blown away – both physically and cognitively.

Xiaomi MIX Review

When we thought Xiaomi mi note 2 will be the year-end flagship, they also announced the first concept phone, Xiaomi MIX to stand for the future. And Xiaomi announced Xiaomi MIX to sell on November 4. So Xiaomi MIX and Xiaomi MI Note 2 has successfully entered into the high-end market for Xiaomi. Today we will test this Xiaomi MIX 18K Golden RAM 6GB ROM 256GB version.

Design

Xiaomi hasn’t used the slogan like bezel-less smartphone but the concept with almost whole screen. When we first see it, you may think of Sharp Crystal smartphone. But in fact, Xiaomi MIX is more excellent than Sharp.

BlackBerry DTEK60 vs BlackBerry DTEK50: What’s the difference?

BlackBerry has announced another DTEK handset, with the new DTEK60 joining the existing DTEK50.

BlackBerry has been shifting over to Android, first launching the Priv slider, an innovative handset that offered a lot of BlackBerry and a lot of Android. The DTEK50 followed, a mid-range spec device, with the new DTEK60 fitting into a higher tier.

Both offer BlackBerry’s take on Android, with added security functions, rapid patching and a few nice tweaks through the BlackBerry launcher and Hub.

This is how the BlackBerry DTEK60 and DTEK50 compare, as we run down the essential hardware specs.

Jaybird X3 review

The Jaybird X3, the third iteration of the company’s popular sweat-resistant wireless sports headphone, is probably the best headphone the company has produced.

jaybirdx3

What’s new about it? Well, for starters it’s smaller than the X2. Also, its inline remote has been redesigned, and its battery has been upgraded from NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) to lithium ion to deliver up to eight hours battery life playing music at moderate volume levels.

On top of that, Jaybird, now owned by Logitech, says it’s tweaked the 6mm drivers inside the earbuds. I will say these are among the best sounding wireless sports headphones out there right now. And at $130, they cost $50 less than the initial price of the X2. (The headphones will launch in the UK and Australia in “the next few months” for £109 and AU$179, respectively.)

Monitor Audio Platinum PL300 II review

We reviewed the first generation of Monitor Audio’s Platinum PL300s back in 2008.

At that time, Monitor Audio didn’t have a reputation for high-end speakers, but out of nowhere came a pair of luxury floorstanders that could stand toe-to-toe with the best at the price.

We were impressed enough with the results to use a complete 9.2 Platinum package (PL300s as fronts) as a reference for many years. There’s no doubt in our minds that the range succeeded in establishing the company at the top end of the market.

It also did well enough to ensure that the idea of a £8000 pair of Monitor Audios doesn’t seem strange at all.

Some may be disappointed to note there’s little surprise in the new ‘300s. That fits perfectly into the company’s way of doing things – good products are evolved rather than scrapped – yet, no part of the original has survived.

2016 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON REVIEW

2016-jeep-wrangler-rubicon-side-800x533-c

The Wrangler requires no formal introduction. A true icon, it’s known all around the world as the quintessential off-roader and it’s still the centerpiece of the Jeep lineup. Ask any enthusiast to list three nameplates that represent the American auto industry and odds are you’ll hear the names “Corvette,” “Mustang,” and “Wrangler” – or at the very least “Jeep.”

A pair of round headlights, a grille with seven tall slots, and a rear-mounted spare tire characterize the Wrangler’s timeless looks. Imitators from all around the globe have tried to grab a slice of its market share for decades, but none have ever succeeded. I spent a week behind the wheel of a Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock to find out what its secret is.

The basics

The Wrangler is equipped with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that delivers 285 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 260 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm. The six-cylinder spins the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission, which is the automotive equivalent of a Nokia 3310 now that gearboxes with seven gears or more are common. A six-speed manual transmission is standard.

2017 Triumph Bonneville T100 First Ride Review

Triumph’s new Bonneville platform has already made a significant impact on the moto market in less than a year. Spearheaded by the 900cc Street Twin and followed closely by the 1200cc T120 Bonneville and Thruxton models, the retro-modern roadsters are selling as quickly as Triumph can build them, with strong sales forcing Triumph to add an extra shift at its factory to meet demand.

“This new platform was the biggest project for the Hinckley-era Triumph,” Miles Perkins, Triumph’s Head of Brand, told us this week, adding it required five years of development work. We recognized by Triumph’s achievement by giving the Bonneville platform our 2016 Motorcycle of the Year award. Perkins says demand for the modern classics is a massive 68% higher than the company expected.

Panasonic G80 vs G7 Camera Comparisons

We take a closer look at the new mid-range compact system camera from Panasonic

The new G80 camera sits in the middle of the Panasonic’s range of compact system cameras, just like the G7 did. Or still does. Panasonic seems to have kept the G7 in the range for the moment, being available at a cheaper price than the G80.

In this rundown, we’ll take a look at whether the new specifications of the G80 make it worth parting with a bit more cash than the G7.

Microsoft Surface Studio Hands-on Review : Dazzling Display, Crazy Versatile Dial

[su_youtube url=”https://youtu.be/_IExjz3MKYg”]

Microsoft’s first desktop PC, the Surface Studio, is designed for those who want to create. It starts with the world’s thinnest LCD monitor ever built (12.5mm) and a forged aluminum enclosure, which you can tilt back to use with a Surface Pen in easel mode.

It’s available for pre-order today, Oct. 26, and starts at $2,999.

The Surface Studio sports a zero-gravity hinge and custom-tuned springs, so it’s designed to feel weightless when you change to the 20-degree drafting angle. It certainly felt light in person; I barely used any effort do to change modes.

Misfit Phase Hands-on Review : A beautiful smartwatch in disguise

The first thing to note about the Misfit Phase is that there’s no giveaway. The buttons on the side might suggest there’s more to this than clockwork, but otherwise the Phase keeps its smarts very much behind the scenes. It’s a smartwatch, but you wouldn’t know it to look at it.

And no, it’s not the first hybrid we’ve seen, but the Phase doesn’t rely on complications or tiny screens to serve up notifications; instead everything is communicated through the positions of the hands. Watching them glide around the face of their own accord is strangely hypnotic, and this is how you’ll know if you’ve got a text, a phone call, an email – or you just want to see how many steps you’ve taken that day.

How Surface Studio takes on iMac in 5 steps

The Microsoft Surface Studio was revealed this morning in a presentation that may be making Apple apprehensive. You see, Apple has an event taking place tomorrow, and they’ll be revealing their own machines. It’s likely Apple will have a set of new MacBook Pro units ready for the public then. But for now, Microsoft is attempting to get in while the getting is good.

How Surface Studio takes on iMac in 5 steps

Microsoft made some top notch moves in their presentation this week. The company dedicated their last 100 (give or take a few hundred) presentations to work and games. Now, at last, Microsoft comes out punching for creative applications.

The Surface Book i7, Windows 10 VR, and game streaming upgrades were interesting on their own. But it’s the Surface Studio where Microsoft is aiming to change the way creative people make art. And design things, and illustrate, and conjure up 3D sculptures in the digital realm.

Google Pixel : 5 things we love and 3 we don’t

The Nexus’ successor: a success in some ways, a disappointment in others

Google’s first ever non-Nexus smartphone is here – and with it, Google has ditched its previous “sell ‘em cheap” approach in favour of a “please pay lots of money for this premium handset” model.

Starting at a shade under £600, the Pixel is in the same league as the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Apple iPhone 7, so it needs to deliver the goods to achieve must buy status. As you’ll know if you’ve read our in-depth review, we don’t think it’s quite there – but there’s no denying that it’s an impressive effort in many ways.

So let’s get to it: here are five things we love about the Google Pixel, and three things we’re not quite so keen on…

DJI Mavic Pro review: One insanely powerful, portable drone

DJI made a big statement launching the Mavic Pro drone.

For the first time the company’s best and most useful technological advances are available in a product that costs less than £1,000/$1,500. What’s more, that product is easily the most portable and user-friendly drone to date.

With its impressive spec list, groundbreaking design and relatively low cost, surely the Mavic Pro can’t fail to impress?

Perhaps the most impressive feature of the Mavic Pro is its size. We’ve seen a lot of the technology before, on drones like the Phantom 4, but we’ve never seen it packed in to such a compact and portable product.

Hugo Boss Smart Classic review : It’s not the big boss of smart analogue watches, but it’s still a stylish performer

The Hugo Boss Smart Classic looks like a normal Boss watch, it’s just that ugly digital display that upsets an otherwise attractive time piece. As far its smartwatch abilities are concerned, it’s not offering anything groundbreaking, but if you like the idea of simple yet reliable notification support and some basic activity tracking, it covers those bases well. Battery life is solid too and your time spent in the app will be minimal. It might not be the best smart analogue out there, but it’s certainly a nice addition.

2016 Porsche Boxster S v Jaguar F-Type V6 S comparison

It has almost become a landmark moment in our evolution as humans. A neat title to slot in after all that complex baby, child, teenager, adult transition stuff.

The midlife crisis.

More than just a Faith No More song, it’s a chance, once the children are relatively self-sufficient, the career trajectory is on a clear path and ideally there is a bit of equity in the family home, to put the focus back on yourself for what might not be a particularly smart decision.

2018 Holden Commodore Review : New Opel Insignia driven in Australia

Don’t worry, you don’t need to get your eyes checked. You read it right, we’ve just driven the 2018 Holden Commodore, in prototype form – and it’s a cracker.

The next-generation Commodore will be based entirely on the Opel Insignia. In fact, it won’t receive any panel or body changes, aside from Holden badges. But, don’t think that means Holden’s Australian engineers won’t have anything to do with it.

As it does with many General Motors cars, Holden has been involved with the next Commodore (Opel Insignia) for the past six years. Holden’s involvement stretches from design all the way through to engineering, with the vehicle’s potent performance engine driven into the program by Holden.

Irix 15mm f/2.4 Lens Review

Irix 15mm F2,4 Blackstone Vertical View

The Irix 15mm f/2.4 lens is an ultra-wide rectilinear manual focus optic for full frame 35mm-format cameras, in this premium Blackstone version also being weather sealed and clad in magnesium alloy. Such a lens is a beautiful object in its own right, but the most important thing is the quality of the images it helps us to make. Let’s see if the results are the equal of the outward appearance.

Product Handling and Features

The lens looks the part from the start, impressively mounted on the Canon EOS 6D used for this review. It matches the camera well and balances well. There is no AF, but there are electronic contacts on the mount so the correct aperture is reported in the EXIF data. The aperture, with its nine rounded blades, is controlled by the camera. There is a limitation in that the 6D cannot report an f/2.4 aperture value and instead reports f/2.5. This is a minor point of interest but has no real operational significance.

HP ProBook 470 G3 review – the screen size is just one of the reasons to opt for the bigger version of the ProBoo

Kết quả hình ảnh cho HP ProBook 470 G3

Spanning from 14-inch to 17-inch devices, HP’s ProBook series should always be on the top of your list when looking for a budget business companion for a number of reasons. For starters, the ProBooks offer exceptional build quality, good battery life, excellent input devices, capable hardware at a reasonable price and M.2 SATA SSD support. The latter is pretty uncommon for entry-level notebooks. We know all of this because the ProBook 455/450 G3 and 440 G3 have already been reviewed here in our office and now it’s time for the 17-incher.

However, like in most cases, the 17-inch 470 G3 doesn’t really pose really compelling selling points over the 15-inch and 14-inch version except for the bigger working space of course. The hardware, including the battery, unfortunately, is identical – up to Core i7-6500U CPU paired with up to AMD Radeon R7 M340 GPU and up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM. With this configuration, we expect slightly lower battery runtimes due to the larger screen surface that needs to be lit but as far as the rest goes, the 470 G3 should perform similarly to what we’ve seen on the 14-inch 440 G3 and 15-inch 450 G3.
