Vizio D Series (2016) TV Review

If you’re hunting for flat-screen bargains, the buck stops at the Vizio D Series (2016). While the high-end is filled out by the Reference Series and recently confirmed 2016 P Series, the D Series is Vizio’s pure value category once again this year.

As it stands, the D Series is highly affordable and ubiquitous, with a whopping 25 different models of all sizes to choose from. They’re all aggressively priced to move, but curiously they run the gamut from 720p sets (on the small end) to 4K when you get up to the bigger sizes. This isn’t to be confused with Vizio’s E Series TVs, which have an “E” in the model name and are primarily in 1080p, and Vizio’s nicer M Series TVs that have an “M” in the model name and all come in 4K.

Leica SL (Typ 601) review

Introduction

There’s something about Leica that makes many photographers go slightly weak at the knees. It’s a name that’s indelibly associated with some of the greatest photographers of all time, including the likes of Annie Leibovitz, Robert Frank, and Henri Cartier-Bresson. The company’s most iconic product line, its M-series rangefinders, is more than 60 years old, and took the seismic transition from film to digital in its stride while barely changing in design. Indeed, the current Leica M-P looks more or less the same as the 1954 M-3, while the Leica M-A is just about the last ‘serious’ 35mm film camera still available.

SEAT Leon ST Review : Practical estate car with smart looks and great engines

The SEAT Leon ST is the estate version of the Leon hatch. Its biggest competition comes from other Volkswagen Group car such as the Golf estate and Skoda Octavia estate.

This is the first time there’s been an estate Leon, lending an air of additional practicality to SEAT’s family-car offering but without too much of a weight penalty. In essence it’s a cheaper, better-lookingGolf estate.

Prices start from £18,695/$28,042 and if you buy your new Leon ST using carwow you can save £2,600/$3,900 on average.

Mattel View-Master review : A virtual reality rethinking of a classic

Virtual reality, or VR, is very much the hot topic in 2016. With VR systems appearing all over the place, Mattel has reinvented the classic View-Master as its own pitch into this futuristic entertainment space.

Originally launched as a stereoscopic toy, and evolving through the middle of the 20th century, the View-Master has a special place in toy history for many of us. Leafing through photos with a pull of the lever transported you to a far-away place, perhaps only matched by the excitement of that Fisher-Price telephone on wheels – yes, the one with the wobbly eyes.

Acer Predator XB321HK Gaming Monitor Review

Gaming at 4K often comes at the cost of smoothness, but Acer’s hoping to make that trade-off a thing of the past. The company’s Predator XB321HK gaming monitor backs up its ultra-HD resolution with Nvidia G-Sync technology, allowing you to play your 4K games without worrying about stutters or screen tears.

Naturally, that premium experience comes at a premium price, at $1,299. While it’s not for everyone, the Predator XB321HK’s gorgeous picture quality and handy feature-set offer a lot to love for those who play on high-end, Nvidia-powered PCs.

Blue Lola Headphones Review — Attractively Unconventional

Paring down a product to its essentials can result in either a sleek, refined look or a missing critical component (or both). The Blue Lola headphones ($250) are a bit of both. Like its more expensive predecessor, the Blue Mo-Fi ($350), the Lola features an attractively unconventional design, comfortable ear cups and high-quality sound. Removing the Mo-Fi’s built-in amp makes the device a bit less versatile than its predecessor, as does a rather narrow focus on Apple products above all others, but the Lola is still a quality headset for those seeking something off the beaten path.

LG Tribute 5 Review : Selfie-Centric Phone Falls Flat

Clearly, the $99 LG Tribute 5 for Boost Mobile targets people who value self-portraits over other features. The front camera sports the same 5-megapixel sensor as the back shooter, and you get some voice and gesture controls to simplify selfie-taking. However, the Tribute 5 cuts plenty of corners to achieve its low price, including a low-res display, lackluster camera quality and slow performance.

2016 Can-Am Spyder RS Review

The funny backwards trikes in Can-Am ’s sport stable for 2016 include the Spyder RS and the RS-S. Featuring the Rotax high-torque engine and 12 gallons of cargo space, these performance-minded siblings are a blend ofmotorcycle and car technologies to bring you a fun ride that corners like it’s on rails. No, they don’t lean, so it’s not exactly like riding a motorcycle, but not everyone is looking for the same experience.

Maingear Rush Review : Stunning Gaming Showpiece

Maingear is like the Aston Martin of gaming desktops — its PCs are opulent art pieces that double as high-performance machinery. The company’s latest rig, the Rush Superstock (starting at $1,799, reviewed at $7,927), packages high-end components — such as an octa-core Intel Core i7 processor, an Asus Rampage V Extreme motherboard and three Nvidia GeForce 980 Ti GPUs — housed in an exquisite chassis made of aluminum and tempered glass. The result is a gaming rig that will garner more than its fair share of oohs and aahs, whether you’re showing it off to friends or kicking ass in your favorite game.

Hisense 55K321 review

A 4K Ultra HD television at this price is certainly not what you’d expect; even from a company such as Hisense, a brand most renowned for its plethora of affordable TVs.

It would be unfair to Hisense (not to mention against our principles) to say our recommendation is based only upon specifications, but they do make mightily impressive reading.

The company’s conviction is that buying an entry-level television doesn’t necessarily mean you have to sacrifice features.

LG G5 review : Modular misfire?

LG has its foot firmly on the gas. Its G5 flagship totally shake-ups the top-end phone market by introducing a module-based design so that additional accessory units can be added for new features and operation.

But while that’s a fun feature – one that makes the G5 among the most interesting phones we’ve seen for years, including Samsung’s edge series – perhaps LG should have taken that foot off the gas to avoid turning a design corner at such pace. Because the LG G5 is at risk of skidding off the road of reason.

Philips 65PUS8901 hands on review

It takes a lot for a TV’s design to stand out these days. No longer is it a distinct advantage to put out a super-slim unit with a thinner-than-ever bezel and a shiny stand, because everyone is doing it. However, we can always pick a Philips out of a line-up.

Nobody else has the audacity to make televisions with a load of flashing lights. We’re referring to Philips’ Ambilight technology, a bizarre staple of Philips TVs and a rather unique selling point. Strips of LEDs beam light onto the wall, creating a halo of light to reflect the colours of whatever is happening on-screen.

Epson Runsense SF-110 Review : Completely Nonsensical

Epson began its foray into the wearable market with the SF-810, a GPS running watch with a built-in heart-rate monitor and a fairly high, $349 price. The SF-110 is the company’s low-end watch, at $139, and it comes with many of the same pros and cons of its high-end companion. Too bad this watch pales in comparison to Garmin’s similarly priced device.

Nixon The Mission first look review : Sporty Android Wear impresses in the details

So often smartwatches are about compromises. Sliding up the scale of features you want directly reduces the levels of aesthetics and usability, which means you can’t have a full colour screen without slashing battery life to a day.

The compromise game is played on every smartwatch in existence, but what’s impressive about the Nixon The Missionis that it seems to make fewer than its rivals. And it may just be one of the most complete watches that Android Wear has graced to date.
