D-Link 180-degree WiFi Camera Review

WiFi security cameras like Nest Cam have brought home monitoring within the reach of the mainstream, but all too often come with a subscription sting. Not so for the D-Link Full HD Ultra-Wide View WiFi Camera (DCS-2630L), which eschews the cloud in favor of a one-off price of $199.99 and the convenience of a microSD card. It also promises to fill that storage with a lot more of your home or office, courtesy of a full 180-degree lens.

Lenovo Yoga 900 review: Same thin design with fewer compromises

Lenovo’s Yoga laptops hardly need an introduction at this point: The company’s iconic 2-in-1s are so popular that its competitors have been copying them right and left. Last year’s edition, the Yoga 3 Pro, was especially notable for how thin and light it was: just 2.6 pounds and half an inch thick, and that was with a folding touchscreen, too. The problem, we found, was that as easy as it was to hold, that compact design came with significant compromises, including lackluster performance and mediocre battery life. Enter this year’s model, the new Yoga 900 ($1,199 and up). Like its predecessor, it has a 13-inch, 3,200 x 1,800 screen and a slim build, but this time it claims faster performance, longer battery life and a sturdier hinge. It is, essentially, an improvement in almost every way.

Audiolab 8300A review

The Audiolab brand was established on the extraordinary success of its first product, the 8000A integrated amplifier. Back in the early 1980s, this slim unit struck just the right chord with hi-fi buyers – its combination of quality build, sensible features and highly neutral sound proved a massive success.

The DNA of that original design has been retained through the company’s subsequent designs, including the 8300A on test here. However, this isn’t just some mild evolution.

The 8300A is a completely new design that stays true to the original’s engineering principles and aesthetics, but takes in the advantages of current thinking in electronic design and technology.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS vs. 2015 Ford Mustang GT – Comparison Tests

There was a time when the American muscle car performed all its tricks with the steering wheel pointed straight ahead. Detroit iron built its image on burnouts, quarter-mile runs, looking fast while parked, and chasing pedestrians out of the crosswalk with a prod of the throttle.

But if it weren’t for that V-8 snarl and their burly bodywork, today’s muscle cars might pass as legitimate sports cars. America’s blue-collar heroes still charge hard in a straight line, but they now corner with the confidence of a European coupe. It’s the result of decades-long evolution, but also recent strides in chassis dynamics.

Guess Connect review

In theory, the Guess Connect is the future of a certain type of wearable. Take something people already wear on their wrists – in this case, the Guess Rigor, and make it smart in a helpful but inoffensive way. As a first smartwatch, if you’ve got money to burn, this is a looker and won’t embarrass you. But the Connect falls down on a number of points, it’s 3mm chunkier than an already chunky ‘dumb’ timepiece, it’s double the price and more expensive than even the basic Apple Watch. The Bluetooth dropping out and problems receiving and dealing with alerts get annoying. And considering the small, monochrome screen and limited functionality, the battery life for the smart part should be outperforming the likes of Pebble. The Guess Connect is worth a look but a cheaper Martian watch might make more sense for all but loyal Guess fans.

£49/$74 Amazon Fire review – 5th-gen 7in tablet

The simply named Amazon Fire is the fifth generation of the company’s 7in tablet. And it is by far the cheapest, and best, yet. Here’s our Amazon Fire review.

PRICE

You can buy the Fire for £49/$74 from Amazon. That’s a crazy price for a brand new tablet, but it really is that cheap. This price includes ‘special offers’ which means you’ll get adverts for products on the lock screen. When you buy the Fire you’ll see an option to pay £10/$15 extra to remove these.

Razer Mamba Tournament Edition Review — Quick and Deadly

Nikon Coolpix L31 Review

Introduction

Photographers often overlook the usefulness of a small, easy to use compact camera and instead prioritise the larger DSLRs. However, a pocket sized camera can be a very useful tool for many aspects of photography. Luckily, Nikon know this and have released the Coolpix L31, a 16 megapixel point and shooter featuring a 5x optical zoom, electronic vibration reduction and SDXC storage compatibility. Priced at around £79, the Nikon Coolpix L31 is available in black, silver, red and purple.

Samsung Gear VR review (2015): A no-brainer if you own a Samsung phone

When Samsung and Oculus debuted their Gear VR headset almost a year ago, the companies made it clear the device wasn’t yet ready for the masses. Billed as “Innovator Edition” models, the original Gear VRs were intended mainly for early adopters. They only fitted a limited number of phones — the original was designed just for the Note 4; the second for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge — and were also quite pricey at $200 per headset. Just last week, however, the two companies released the first-ever consumer-ready version of the Gear VR. It’s smaller, lighter, cheaper (only $99) and is compatible with more phones (the Note 5, S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+). But, more importantly, its content library has exploded, with more VR apps and games than ever before. Virtual reality has finally gone mainstream, and there’s no better way to get started than with the new Gear VR.

Digital Storm Bolt 3 Review

The Digital Storm Bolt 3 ($1,760 starting, $2,024 as reviewed) is a gaming PC that offers big power along with good looks. This slim desktop’s see-through, easily upgradable design is as practical as it is eye-catching, and its 6th-gen Intel Core i7 processor and powerful Nvidia GTX 970 graphics make it more than capable of playing the most demanding games. However, in growing more powerful and customizable, the Bolt 3 has lost some of its predecessor’s compactness, meaning those seeking something small enough to stuff into the living room may want to look elsewhere.

Microsoft Lumia 950 XL: One platform to rule them all

Microsoft has thought long and hard about how all its disparate hardware exists and has come up with Windows 10 to bring it all together.

Now the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL flagship smartphone is here to bring Windows 10 to the phone market. With it comes an operating system like nothing Windows Phone 7 and 8 ever managed in terms of continuity across devices. Since Windows 10 now uses one app on PC, tablet and smartphone, developers should start making more and more for the multi-device platform. Lack of apps was always a Windows Phone weakness that may have been fixed in this one move.

14 Great Cars No One Bought

1. JAGUAR XJ

In a sea of oddly designed full-size luxury sedans, the Jaguar XJ stands out. Athletic appearance, lightweight aluminium structure, and a comfortable, sporty ride are all featured on this great vehicle. A longer wheelbase model is available for those who want to be chauffeured and a powerful 550 horsepower XJR is offered for those who want raw power.

For some reason though, the Jaguar XJ can’t compete with the German competition of BMW and Audi. With a total of only 4,329 units sold in 2014, the Jaguar XJ is a rarity on the road. It’s possible the rebranding from Ford a few years back hurt the Jaguar name, which is unfortunate because not only is the Jaguar XJ on par with its rivals, it also comes in close to $20,000 cheaper than others in its class.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Review: INSANELY Good, Very Cheap. Excellent ALL ROUND

Cheap and powerful Chinese smartphones are something of a mystery for most western buyers, which is ironic when you consider that so many of the best-known tech brands create their products in that part of the world. This is slowly but surely changing as companies such as Huawei, ZTE and UMI are gaining solid reputations thanks to their impressive, low-cost mobile offerings, but even these firms are left in the dark by the mighty Xiaomi. A company often described as the Apple of the East, not only because it creates gorgeous products, but because it has a habit of copying a lot of what Apple does.

2015 Mini Clubman review

Mini has continued the progressive release of its third-generation models with a new Clubman station wagon joining the previously launched three and five-door hatches.

Like the second-generation Countryman crossover SUV and the gen-three five-door hatch, the new Clubman breaks with Mini tradition by adding conventional rear passenger doors for the first time. Indeed Clubman goes one step further because, by retaining the previous side-hinged ‘barn doors’ at the rear of the car, it has become the first ever six-door Mini.

How to use app permissions in Android Marshmallow: Control what data third-party apps can access on your Android phone or tablet

Control what data third-party apps can access on your Android phone or Android tablet with app permissions. Here’s how to use app permissions in Android Marshmallow.

Apps require various permissions to do their thing on your phone or tablet, but sometimes their requirement of a random permission can ring alarm bells. For example, we can think of no reason why a photo-editing app might need to access your SMS messages, or a calendar app would need to access your camera.

iClever IC-BTS02 Bluetooth speaker mini-review

When you need your music on the go, you need it in a small form factor — one that can easily fit in any bag and won’t wear you down, but that doesn’t sacrifice audio quality or battery life. Most portable batteries come in cylindrical form, but there are smaller single-speaker units out there that are about the size of a baseball. One such unit is iClever’s IC-BTS02, a little wireless speaker we’ve taken for a spin.

Hands on: HP Elite X2 1012 Skylake hybrid

Easily upgradeable laptop-tablet to lead the new HP’s hybrid war

HP Inc has unveiled the Elite X2 1012, a Skylake-powered hybrid aimed at businesses that bears more than a passing resemblance to Microsoft’s Surface Pro flagship.

The silver-coloured chiselled metal of the X2 1012 felt very rigid and sturdy in the hand, even in its pre-production state. Like the Surface Pro, the tablet will come with a Wacom-powered stylus while a magnetic keyboard and screen cover will be sold separately. By itself, the tablet will weigh 840g and the combined weight is unlikely to be much more than this.

iPad Pro vs iPad Air 2: Is BIGGER Actually BETTER?

Will the iPad Pro eat the iPad Air’s lunch?

When the iPad first came out in 2010 Steve Jobs said its 9.7-inch form factor was the PERFECT size for a tablet and that no other sizes were needed. But then came the 7.9-inch iPad mini–and, I mean, who would ever need MORE than two sizes of an iPad? Of course, then iPad (and tablet sales in general) started tanking–iPad sales have been declining 20% year over year as most people find that, unlike iPhones, there’s not a lot of point in getting a new tablet each year.

Microsoft Lumia 950 review : Making the case for Windows on a phone

It’s probably been a long time since a Microsoft smartphone has crossed your mind. The last time Microsoft had a high-end Windows smartphone in the US, it was nearly two years ago and the phone came wearing a Nokia logo and ran Windows Phone 8.

Now the company is releasing two new phones that it hopes will change all that. The new Lumia 950 (and its larger sibling, the 950XL) is going head on against the best Androids and iPhones with a modern processor, high-resolution screen, capable camera, and many other features found on popular smartphones. It’s also the first phone to run Windows 10, Microsoft’s answer to not only desktop platforms, but also mobile operating systems like Android and iOS.

Toshiba Portege Z20T Review

Toshiba’s Portege Z20T is a 2-in-1 laptop-tablet combo that tries to be everything to everyone. The tablet portion has a generous 12.5-inch, 1080p screen, it’s reasonably if not exceptionally portable, and it can be docked into a businesslike keyboard that turns it into a conventional laptop. Premium features like backlit keys, not one but two active stylii, magnesium housing, and a ThinkPad-style pointing stick make it an attractive option for the business traveler.

Canon Rebel T6s Digital Camera Review

Thanks to Canon, the Rebel brand name has become synonymous with the modern day entry-level DSLR. If you or someone you know has gotten into photography over the past few years, a Rebel is likely the first camera you looked at—especially if you wanted a dual-purpose DSLR that could also shoot video.

But since Canon released the Rebel T2i in 2010, very little has changed with the line. Other than small refinements here and there, the last few years of Rebel DSLRs have heavily relied on the brand’s good name and ease-of-use while skipping meaningful hardware upgrades. That finally changed this year with the Canon Rebel T6i, which brought with it a higher resolution sensor, improved low light and continuous shooting, and built-in WiFi.

Yamaha YSP-1600 review

Yamaha’s YSP range of soundbars has impressed us with its ability to deliver an enjoyable surround sound from a single soundbar. The YSP-1600 is no different: a £500/$750 soundbar that aims to deliver a 5.1 surround experience, while offering the latest streaming features.

It costs less than £100/$150 and comes with dual-SIM 4G LTE connectivity, an octa-core processor and a 5in HD screen – but is this budget Android phone a good buy? We review the Ulefone Paris budget Android phone.

The Ulefone Paris offers excellent value at under £100/$150. Our review sample came from Coolicool.com, where it currently costs £88/$132, but be warned that the phone ships from China and if your parcel is picked up at Customs you will need to pay import duty.
