Toshiba may have retreated from the consumer market in recent years, but it isn’t out of the laptop game completely. The company has focused on making excellent business laptops, and the 12-inch Toshiba Portege X20W is the latest system to benefit from the company’s expertise. The slim ultraportable measures 11.8 x 8.6 x 0.61 inches and weighs a very portable 2.4 pounds. That’s thin, but if you want a thinner machine, the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 measures a slim 0.54 inches thick. The Portege X20W slips in under the 3-pound mark thanks to its slim magnesium-alloy chassis, which manages to offer enough rigidity to feel substantial even with its light weight. The lightweight brushed metal has a dark finish that Toshiba calls onyx blue, but you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s just black; you’ll see the blue tint only when the light hits it just right.
